Going Live - Curve Cowboy Reunion - Reunion

I wanted to bring some of the old CCR gang together for some camaraderie and riding in the great state of Arkansas.

The dates for the event are 5/22 to 5/25, Location is the Clarion Inn & Suites in Russellville, AR with a group name of "CCR Reunion" and a group code of "LL7LE4" No event fees, no charity, just good old fashioned riding, dining, kicking tires and telling stories about our prior CCR adventures.

I have secured several rooms at a group rate of 75 for a single king and 80 for the double queen rooms. The rate includes a free breakfast. There is a restaurant and bar on the property.

To make reservations you can:
. Go to this LINK to the hotel for the event.

. Go to www.choicehotels.com and click GROUPS on the top and enter group code: LL7LE4

. Call the hotel at 479-968-4300 and mention group name: CCR Reunion Group

While the cut off is listed as May 8th for reservations, I encourage you all to book early. They have a good cancellation policy and I have only committed to 20 rooms in the contract but they have more available if we need them but they may go fast. Don't get left out!

Also I ask that you please post here once you have made your reservation to help me keep track of the rooms.

Look forward to seeing everyone the end of May.

I assume you all are OK with some CCR virgins attending, right?

Is the idea to arrive the day before (5/21) for the 5/22 start or are most folks arriving 5/22 and departing 5/25? Just want to be sure whether to book 3 nights hotel or 4. Thanks.

PS: Posted too soon. Should have followed the link to see that it says 5/22 check-in and 5/26 check out. Are most arriving early on the 22nd or later around the normal 3:00 hotel check-in?

Most will arriving on Tuesday 22nd and depart Sat 26. Some will come earlier and stay longer but you're more then welcome to stay as long as you please. Sammie and I will be there by cage just to see so many friends we've not seen in a few years.

Re: Going Live - Curve Cowboy Reunion - Reunion

King room reserved for two from 5/22-26. I got the last King room in the group if the web site is to be believed. Is that a good omen?

I have a conflict on the 22nd as that is the board meeting for my electric cooperative, but since I am the chairman of the board I should be able to resolve that.

Re: Going Live - Curve Cowboy Reunion - Reunion

For the No prior-CCR attendees, typically the arrival day is a Tuesday with socialization that evening where old acquaintances are refreshed and new people are introduced. That is followed by three days of riding the great roads. Most depart on Saturday morning.

If you go to the web site and see no rooms you desire left in the group, just go ahead and call the hotel as they will add rooms and as Howard said they even discounted a King suite for him. I only committed to 10 of each type in the contract, but they had 17 Kings and 37 Queens open at the time I called. I will give them a call today and confirm that they will add rooms off the contract.

Re: Going Live - Curve Cowboy Reunion - Reunion

OK John, I just made a reservation for myself and Janet. I called direct as I wanted to request a ground floor room not knowing if they had an elevator. Mom doesn't do well with up and down stairs. Anyway, they were very accommodating and were able to put me on the ground floor. We will arrive 22nd and leave 26th. Considering dragging the bike behind the Volvo but more than likely will be in the Bimmer. Thanks for all you effort in putting this together.

Spoke with the hotel today. They say 16 rooms have been booked so far. Also as they ran out of the 10 King rooms in the original contract they did add additional. So if you don't see availability on the web link just call them direct and they will fix you up. Jean and I will do a scouting trip as soon as the weather gets better to see how the food is (and the bar of course). Facebook posts are up in the CCR page area.

Ole Toad has been asleep since late last year, and propects aren’t lookin’ all that good to go rompin’ in ‘18. C. has some health issues we’re working out, so hopefully, things may change. Say “howdy” to all for me. Really glad you’re going - be safe and have fun.

Yes, but you have to quietly drop them on the floor as he is putting on the Tupperware thinking he is done so he can spot them. A Kodak moment for sure.

Where does this go.... ??

I did spot the reason a brand new GTL had no oil flow back to the oil tank. It was a torx fastener stuck in the oil tube.

Steve,
Just made my reservation. When do you and Cheryl want to come? We are looking forward to seeing you two, and the rest of the gang.

Awesome Jim! We are tacking on a trip to the Smokies either before or after this event, so it depends on how those accommodations firm up. Will definitely keep you in the loop...more soon.

Well what do ya know! There are still Curve Cowboys out there! FYI John, I fully plan to be there along with a couple of other familiar faces from the NW just to see you all again. We have a room at the Clarion for the 22nd & 23rd of May.

Re: Going Live - Curve Cowboy Reunion - Reunion

It's not too early to start sharing ride routes once we all get there. I have planned a run south to Talihina, OK; for lunch at Pam's "Hateful Hussy" Cafe. This will be by the way of the Talimena Scenic Byway and then back up North through Ft Smith and maybe some other back roads for the return to Russellville. Another day is a run North to Eureka Springs (lots of great choices for lunch) via the Arkansas Pig Trail and other great roads back past the old "Dogpatch USA" theme park that is abandoned.

I'll be posting GPX files as we get closer to the event. I encourage others to begin planning and sharing great rides.

That's a great idea. Unfortunately, I am not at all familiar with the area so I will likely be a daily ride freeloader at my rookie attendance.

That is sad beyond belief. I can't even imagine what you are going through.

As a deacon in my church, I was visiting a high school classmate and her family when she died from lung cancer (lifelong smoker). It was not a pleasant time, but her family seemed almost relieved when her very labored breathing ceased, even though she died way too young (mid 50s).

It was very tough watching a class mate, who I wasn't even terribly close to, die from cancer. It is unfathomable to me think of that being my wife. My prayers are with you and your wife.

Although I have been to Little Rock related to work many times over the last 20 years, I rarely had any time to explore and have never been there on the bike so I too will be " freeloading" but I have done that before.
