CCR R Anyone?

Got to thinking it would be nice to get some people together again, possibly at one of our earlier venues and have a Curve Cowboy Reunion - Reunion. Any one up for this? Ideas? No charity, no bylaws, just camaraderie and riding. What say you all?

I never attended one but if it was within my means and distance I would consider it. Not sure I could do a west coast thing but currently am open. I will watch this thread with anticipation. I don't fall into the reunion category never having been but it was the LT that started this and I am currently an owner and avid supporter of this wonderful machine.

Back to basics, I like it.

Pick a date and location, and whomever can make it, will make it.

Just friends and bikes and food and great roads.

There have been a few similar small gatherings through the year, such as Cambria/Fort Bragg, WCR, Maggie Valley, The Dragon, etc. That gives different folks a "local" place to ride to meet like-minded friends.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

I'm up for it, but not quite now as my wife (I ride, she flys) has been in chemo treatment for the last 7 months and I don't know when we'll be able to resume travels... Loved the camaraderie at the two CCRs I attended.

Re: CCR R Anyone?

Im in. but would need a location. anywhere in the middle of the country is fine. Im in far southern Florida, so anywhere east of Mississippi, im good. CA. would be fine, but would need the extended time off. but i could make it depending on time of year.
No frills, Im in.

Maybe I have created a monster here but look at this Map and see what you think about 1, 2, 3, 5 or 8 as somewhat "central". I know a small group has already gone to the Ramkota Hotel in Rapid City recently and had a good time.

8 (Missouri) would allow me to tick off two more states on my riding map, otherwise, New Mexico or Colorado would be fine too.

Re: CCR R Anyone?

I'm good with any but Tan Tar A, If memory serves it was a very poorly laid out location where many people dropped there bikes plus the riding was not very good. Although it was Sammie and mine first CCR so there are some good memories.
My favorite memory was when we pulled into the hotel it was upper 90's degrees and we where exhausted. As we stopped Grif and a very large red head gentleman met us at the bike with a bellmans cart and proceeded to unload our stuff for us. Grif said to just leave the bike with his friend and took us into the hotel to check in. After check in the red headed guy returned with the bike keys and told us he parked the bike in XX parking spot, unhooked the trailer we were pulling and locked it to the pole next to our bike. He then introduced himself as Jeff Eagen. I sure miss ElJeffe to this day.

Re: CCR R Anyone?

Been awhile since we attended a CCR, getting too old for long distance riding and the wife doesn't ride anymore. Still riding but mostly local with an eat to ride/ride to eat group. However, depending on location, the wife and I would definitely be interested if you would allow us to arrive on 4 wheels. Would prefer east of Mississippi with a bias for locations 4, 7, or 15.

I think there already are "small reunions" of CCR folks meeting in the east and west parts of the country. It would be good if we could all get together again... so a site in the center of the country would be good.

Re: CCR R Anyone?

Great idea, John. It's still early in this game so I can't say with certainty I would be there, but it would be a definite goal on next year's calendar. With Lisa's retirement after this school year this could be her first CCRish event.

Thanks for getting the ball rolling.

Hey there, you're the one that moved to a different time zone.

I'm in, depending on work schedule. I can do another IBR talk, if folks are interested.

Where was the first CCR held? Was that in Hot Springs? That would be my vote.

Or I think we could get a pretty good group together to descend on Toad Suck...

The first actual CCR was at Queen Wilhelmina Lodge and state park in Arkansas. The second was at the Vela Rose in Hot Springs, AR. The Vela Rose is closed down now, but there are many other places in Hot Springs to chose from.

Re: CCR R Anyone?

I am inclined to go with an Arkansas location. It would be easier for me to check out sites and coordinate with the hotel. I, and several other south east riders get to the smokies quite regular and I go to Chateau Elan several times a year now. Not real fond of the food at the Chattanoogan.

So I guess the next question North ( Eureka Springs, Harrison, Mountain Home) or South ( Hot Springs ???) on the event location. I have ridden both and they are equally great.

Also do we want a CCR grade hotel or just a good hangout place. Anyone out there want to help put this together?

Also do we want a CCR grade hotel or just a good hangout place. Anyone out there want to help put this together?
Arkansas is fine. I've been through it on my way west but never spent any time there. A high price 5 star hotel is not necessary. Probably a place with a room or area for us to congregate that they could dedicate for our group and an in-house or near by restaurant where we could sit and have a couple of evening meals together.

As far as help, I'm not sure what I could do being that I'm 15 +/- hours away, and without a time frame don't even know that I'll be able to attend. However, given those conditions, if you some menial task(s) that might be managed remotely let me know and I'll try to help.

Re: CCR R Anyone?

I don't need fancy either. Some of my best gatherings were very informal and easy. Arkansas is always great and has roads to make you smile. Some examples are:

Push Mountain Road ....AR 341
The pig trail........AR 23
The Arkansas Dragon......AR 123
Hwy 7
AR 16

Russellville is a good size town that is almost central to the Qzark Mountain riding area.

Re: CCR R Anyone?

I though we should do like the MOA does and have it at the hottest time of the year since BMW riders are already used to that. Really I would like to do spring so we don't compete with leaf peepers.

Our BMW Club The HillCountry BMW Riders have gone there once or twice a year for a few years now and we usually stay central like Russellville to Hot Springs. this way you can easily go anywhere in the state and get back to the "home base" with no problems. Sammie and i will be in Eureka Springs over Christmas and can check out any places up in that part of the state for you John if you need us to. We'll get there the 23rd and head home the 26th.

Don't worry it won't since I kind of run those events as well even though I am letting go of the spring event I'll still be there. Maybe the end of May would be good for this one.

Memorial Day is Monday May 28. Many people take off work for Memorial Day. Good days to have it would be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday before Memorial Day and people could depart Sunday morning and have 2 days to ride home.

Re: CCR R Anyone?

OK Lets pin this down and see who is up for it.

Time Frame: Last full week of May Wednesday 23 through Saturday 26 with Memorial Day (28) weekend to get home.

Location Russellville, AR Central allowing both Rides in the Ouachita National Forest, Talimina Scenic Byway to the South and Ozark National Forest, Jasper area to the North.

Hotel TBD once we lock in to these dates and location.

The trip to Nova Scotia will be in July or August and will only be a CCR R if enough of us attend.

Sounds great! I am in.

Sometime between now and then I will make a few GPS routes on roads that I know in the area and post them.

The trip to Nova Scotia will be in July or August and will only be a CCR R if enough of us attend.

Hey doesn't matter if this turns into a CCR R or not; I was planning a trip to NS and a few buddies wanted to tag alone which I think is great. Now if someone wants to pick a place in NS and make this a CCR R that is perfectly fine with me and that would save from having to plan this trip, otherwise I will get back to doing some early planning as if no CCR R exists! LOL

Ta-ta for now
