Re: CCR R Anyone?

I am interested but my schedule is a beast to work around. If the dates fit into my mess of a calendar, I would like to show up and maybe bring a friend (who may or may not be on a beemer).

Location Russellville, AR Central allowing both Rides in the Ouachita National Forest, Talimina Scenic Byway to the South and Ozark National Forest, Jasper area to the North.

Hotel TBD once we lock in to these dates and location.

The trip to Nova Scotia will be in July or August and will only be a CCR R if enough of us attend.
This is coming together nicely. Thanks, John.

School runs through June 1, 2018 this year so Lisa will not be able to attend; we'll have to wait for the 2019 edition of this event.

Re: CCR R Anyone?

John,
Im all in for a RR. Just rode in Arkansas with Bruce White and I have to say that if riding is the main objective, North Arkansas is a good choice. Just remember , if you plan to ride with Bruce, have good tires on with lots of life. I also love riding in Colorado, or anywhere in the Rockies.

We talked about doing this last year, and a number of the booze brothers met in Salt Lake City for the MOA as a result. Wait, weren't you there? I seem to have a vision of you with a beer in your hand, standing next to Pesters Pool.

What can I do to help?

Re: CCR R Anyone?

Of course, I live in Mountain Home. From a weather standpoint in AR the fall would be better. Itís the best time of the year to ride with the most stable weather. In the Spring TStorms tornadoes, hail etc possible. Iíd go Eureka Springs rather than further south like Russellville. Being north brings all of southern MO in the range of day rides and there are some great rides to be had there. I would love to help but Stacy and I will be out of the country until 5/30. So if you decide to have it in the Fall Iím available. Check out the Inn of the Ozarks in Eureka Springs. Itís a Best Western and weíve done several regional MOA events there. On site restaurant and not expensive.

NO; someone misunderstood the thread or maybe I mislead someone. This will be a closed ride. Sorry about that!

You would be welcomed to meet up with us somewhere in NS but this will not be a "public" ride, just a few friends taking a long ride.

Ron,

The First CCR was actually north of a small town in SE Oklahoma, Broken Bow at Beavers Bend Lodge I believe. We did a group ride to Wilhelmina.

Any of the other "First Attenders" still on the list??

I have photos to prove it.

I'm a First Attender wana-be. Had reservations but a family emergency prevented me from attending. Been hanging around these parts since the Yahoo Group days when the LT was brand new.

I will add, the location is a wee bit disappointing. 4 hours one way? This of coarse means I will have to ride east to escort hallzee in the typical fashion. Me waaay out in front, him trying to keep up!

I'm likely to be "in". I surely miss the CCR meetups. I made it to 11 of them over the years.

I found out about CCR-R tonight on Facebook since I rarely log into this site anymore.

Thank you Steve Shreeve for the heads up. Now that you're selling your bike I hope you can 4 wheel it. It's only 575 miles! Maybe it won't sell by May...

I have never before attended, but now that I am retired and my LT has a working clutch, I'm seriously considering. I have not ridden in Arkansas before and it is a nice ride from PA ... and the dates look good, but I need to check with the missus. Are these dates and location considered firm now?

Re: CCR R Anyone?

For any automobile buffs, there is a terrific car museum atop Petit Jean Mountain, near Morrilton, AR. When I last visited, they housed a '23 Climber Touring - only museum I know that has one. Manufactured in Little Rock back in the day. An easy ride from Russellville, to spend bout an hour+ to wander the museum.

Re: CCR R Anyone?

WOW 2018 came in like a lead balloon for me. First the heat pump acted up on New Years day ($175 just to look at it). Got that under control and the cold virus got me followed by a failed root canal - OUCH. I am on the mend now and will get back to pinning down a hotel for this event.

May move it up to Eureka Springs to the same hotel the MOA getaway uses in the fall. But the search is under way. Looking for a place that has at least 30 rooms available with a restaurant on board or very close by for the last week of May. I checked a few fancy places in Eureka Springs but they had no availability. Hopefully I will have that locked in by the end of the week and you all can start making reservations.

Ouch! Hopefully, you are getting all of your 2018 troubles out of the way early.

Eureka Springs is about 18 hours ride from my house, so a couple long days or three easy days.

Steve,

I saw your posts from Christmas and checked with that hotel but no rooms available for our event.

All,

Right now I am checking on Russellville as it is central to support both north and south rides. I have a request in for the Clarion Inn & Suites for a group rate. They have a restaurant and bar plus meeting rooms. Should hear back tomorrow. They only require 10+ rooms for a group rate and I think we can muster at least 25. Will keep you posted.

Also check the Best Western. Not a fancy place by any means but has parking right outside your door and does a free breakfast included. 3 or 4 restaurants within a block of the BW.

Count us in if we can secure the Clarion Inn at Russelville end of May. May will be busy. See you in Robbinsville and Russelville in begining and end of May.

Any update on this, John?

I find myself in the unusual situation of actually committing to an event in advance -- no last-minute hotel scrambling for me on this event. I was tempted to call the Clarion Inn & Suites and book a room but that might work against what you are setting up. Anyway - just waiting semi-patiently for an update on the event.

Thanks.

Re: CCR R Anyone?

OK UPDATE.

I never heard back from or was able to reach the contact at Choice Hotels Corporate on this so I called the property direct. They have good availability with singles and doubles for those dates of 5/22-5/26. I will get a group rate contract in a day or so and a group code for you to book your rooms with to get the rate. I have asked for 10 rooms of each type in the initial contract (expect approx. 75 and 80 + tax per room respectively) but they have more available. DO NOT call them direct just yet. We should be able to start booking rooms by the middle of next week. Thanks for your patience with this.

Yes, when I lived in Dallas, when I could get time off to escape, I always headed N NE to get out of the jungle as fast as I could. And never used a 4-lane interstate to do it !
