CCR and MOA Outreach

I recently posted this note to the MOA Ambassadors and to the MOA Facebook group. Comments and suggestion welcome:

CCR (Curve Cowboy Reunion) Is a 501c3 MOA Chartered Club. We have been around since the "new" LT was introduced in 1999 and have donated over $200K to kids focused charities local to the annual event. (See the charity link on our web page.) The first LT gathering was at the MOA in Midland; dedicated meetings have been annual ever since. For 2016, as a CCR Director, I have been authorized to donate $500-$1000 to the MOA Foundation's Gamp Gears. I assume the Foundation is 501c3, yes? The fact that Camp Gears is youth oriented fits our by-law requirement and the fact that it is a motorcycle safety/training program is icing on the cake. Our motivation is two fold: 1) help out with Camp Gears! 2) find a way to broaden CCR's ties with the MOA and expand members awareness of CCR. Our attendance has been dropping the last few years, due in no small part to the LT being out of production. CCR is somewhat unique in that it is a non-camping, hotel based, charity oriented touring event. Although we started as an LT-cenric bunch, we now need to draw in the K1600 and RT crowd and we need help getting out that word. We've posted plenty of links on various forums and have introduced a new outreach program to deliver hang-tags to dealers around the country. I will post an edited copy of this post on the MOA forum.
Ambassadors: I need some advise/help. 1) How do I get money to Camp Gears? Write a check and mail it? Do some kind of presentation at the MOA in Hamburg? Have someone local to CCR come to our final banquet in Monterey and receive a check this September? 2) How can this effort be communicated to the broader MOA population? We want this donation to give our event and Camp Gears some broader MOA attention and it would be nice if this donation model were emulated by other clubs. Anyone have suggestions?

The Curve Cowboy Reunion began with a few BMW enthusiasts who met at Broken Bow, Oklahoma, over three days in September, 2000. They created the opportunity for owners and riders to get together, 'in real life', outside of the internet. The camaraderie and joy of the ride in the beginning leads us stÖ
