Re: 2016 CCR Where is Everyone?

As a suggestion, how about Colorado Springs - not exactly in the center, but a little west of the fly over states? There are lots of areas and attractions to ride in and around there, either going to or coming from CCR (Durango, Ouray, Silverton, Cripple Creek, Estes Park, Air Force Academy, Seven Falls, Helen Hunt Falls, Gold Camp Road, Cave of the Winds, Mesa Verde, etc.). I attended the first Vetter Windjammer Rally in CS on my '74 Water Buffalo.

Hey, Wayne - you remember back in the day, when CCR attendees numbered in the mid-three digit range, there wuz a beeg push to select Toad Suck, AR for the venue. Now days, with attendance somewhat downsized, and a push to locate CCR country center, maybe it's time to contact Toad Suck's Chamber of Commerce (if they have one). 😇

Dick, if we go to Toad Suck, will you get your sorry back- side back to a CCR? Some of us will remember you, even if we are not so good with names anymore.

Wayne, I'd be at any CCR in a heartbeat if'n I could. Immediate family health issues dictate bout the onliest way for me nowadays is if CCR wuz held in the great metropolis of Boerne!! I do look forward to each year's event whereby I can round up a donation package of goodies for the silent auction table. Got 2016's box started already. And I relish all the photo postings during and after the event. Y'all have a blast, Wayne - and thanks for what you've done for the gathering. Best.

I would like to suggest Intercourse Pa. for 2017. Who doesn't like Intercourse. If that's not exciting enough their is always Blue Ball Pa. which is not that far from Intercourse.

Hey, Brian - brung it on! 👍 Cheryl and I have two high-altitude bedrooms available (up a 16 step flight of stairs), with a useable bedroll floor plan in each closet, and with a shareable bath and potty. Front yard can accommodate four pup tents, AND two hammocks can swing from the oak tree. For relaxation, the neighbor behind us just finished their swimming pool, so is ripe for a jump-the-fence midnite christening party - proper attire is mandatory cuz they have kiddos! 🤓 And, after a day of two-wheeling out in the Hill Country whoop-de-dos, an evening feast of self-service snack food is available at the neighborhood 7-11, which is next door to our local gathering place --- the laundromat, where both washers get a daily workout (take a number please!) and folks can huddle around the lone dryer for warmth on those cool evenings. For those interested in the sights and sounds of Boerne, the once-a-week news rag lists the addresses and times for registered garage/yard sales. Major entertainment factor there! 🙄 Soooo - after reviewing the 501-C-3 status of CCR, we may have to temporarily withdraw status so as to allow C.'s and mine's tip jar .... errr tip bucket .... errrr tip barrel. Y'all c'mon down, now!!

What, you got laundry to do? 😳 Hot dang! 👍 For max entertainment, we use the vertical spin machine and try to see who is closest in counting the spins. The tub machine doesn't have a window, so no fun entertainment there. And then the lone dryer - now there is fun, fun, fun. Didja know what happens when you put a whole box of Bounce in there with a load of jeans? Well, lemme tell ya! Instead of static cling, you get them jeans reacting like kick boxers with each other. You'll know serious stuff is on when the 👖 legs get turned inside out!

So, yeah - c'mon over. C. and I will be at the vet for a 'spaying' session for the new pup, butt shouldn't take all AM. Ping me when you get here.

Re: 2016 CCR Where is Everyone?

I talked with two more of my riding buddies here in the east who have attended past CCRs but are not going to Monterey. To my knowledge there is only one other registration from the southeast. Even though I am registered I may not attend. I would like to see a list of those registered before I make a decision to go.

Re: 2016 CCR Where is Everyone?

CCR has been a reunion for me to see old friends that I don't get to see much. This year most of those friends are not going. I have very limited time away from work and I have to make a choice between going to see old friends at CCR or going to see family that live a distance from me. Unfortunately if old friends are not in the equation and the choice comes down to visiting family who I rarely see or making new friends at CCR, then family wins out. One day when I can retire I won't have to choose but for now I don't have the luxury of time to travel long distances to make new friends.

Re: 2016 CCR Where is Everyone?

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to ride for the last several years due to a concussion but I have an idea.

Has there ever been a "rolling" rally from coast to coast, or partially cross country? People could join the ride as it passed near their location for a couple of days or a week. I'm sure some people would want to ride the whole route.

Keep it simple, assign a region to a local to coordinate the general route, hotels for certain nights and let the local group plan for a dinner about once per week, the rest of the time let the riders sort out their dinner plans with their new friends.

The logistics would be a lot of work but it could be fun and more convenient for many riders.

I scribbled a line across the country....someone with better knowledge than me would have to pick the best routing.

Re: 2016 CCR Where is Everyone?

A different concept. . .nice! Now we need someone or a group to stand, wave, and say, "me, me, me. . .I'll set this up and take care of the logistics." There is a CCR 2017 thread running right now. . .we are looking for folks who have ideas and are ready to work to keep CCR alive. The old guard is out of juice.
