800 texting drivers and counting

Last night a local TV station did a story about local motor officer who has written tickets to 800 texting drivers so far this year! Here in GA the law only allows you to use your cell phone to make phone calls while on the road. Texting, email, web browsing and even GPS use on the phone are illegal.

The link is to my blog article about it and contains the links to the story as well as the raw video: http://2upriding.net/2013/09/20/than...officer-myers/

Thank You Officer Myers!

Go and get them.

Matter of fact, get the ones reading books and newspapers, working on a laptop, grading school papers, applying makeup, making a sandwich, rolling a joint, changing a diaper, and other major distractions too.

Seen folks do all those things while riding up the road.

The folks having sex get a pass.

...
... don't forget shaving. With a regular razor (not electric).

Oh yeh, and eating a bowl of cereal. With a spoon. And milk in the bowl. Using both hands.

Several months back was heading to work around 6:00am and there was a lady ( not a teen) riding beside me texting....so I blew the horn, must have scared her as the phone went into the air and then to the floor...... so at the next stop light she pulls up beside me an asks why I blew the horn, you were texting .....her answer was " I was doing it responsibly and there was no traffic".....my reply was that's not the point of the law and rolled my window up.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me; I want people to know 'why' I look this way.
I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

While I am all for him busting folks for not paying attention, I have to wonder how he can watch someone close enough to count keystrokes and still keep an eye on the road. That seems like distracted driving, or riding, to me.

The video showed exactly how he did it. He pulls up alongside in traffic stopped at a light and watches. No more and probably less distracted then they are, as they don't even see the uniform and the Road King next to them.

An Aussie told me that they can't use a phone PERIOD while on the road. No Bluetooth, no holding it to your ear, nothing. Makes it real simple though and no one has to "think" it was ok.

Re: 800 texting drivers and counting

Today the local TV news (New Orleans) stations reported a story about a guy who was in an accident because he was shooting up heroin while driving. But poetic justice was served because the car he rear-ended was a police vehicle. An officer had minor injuries, as did the dumba$$ driving/shooting up.
