Wink Things you can do with MS Movie Maker

Ok, I know this ain't LT related, but I thought I'd share a little something I threw together using Microsoft's Movie Maker that comes bundled with XP. If'n ya got Media Player 10, you'll get some music. If not, it's just another silent slide show...kinda.

Nicely done!! Flat Stanley - first heard about that deal in a 3rd Watch re-run this weekend.

FWIW - plays quite nicely, sounds good even, in mplayer on FC5

Word of caution to dial-upers - it's 26.6MB in size. Doable if you're patient.

I played around with movie maker. Must be doing something wrong. When I emailed it to my Dad, he said all he got was a 2'x2" square screen. Maybe I am not saving it correctly.

Will try again.

...or it's the version of Media Player he's using. I found that if I run this movie on MP9 I can see it ok, but there's no sound. I also recently did a video and found that the sound didn't play on a co-workers PC, but played fine on mine. Could also be that he didn't have the correct codec installed, but I would've thought he would've seen an error stating such.

I'll have my nephew go and upgrade/update his PC. Dad's new to computers.

As the previous guy noted, pay particular attention to codecs.

...though I think once its saved in the movie maker format, codec's don't matter. Codec's only matter when playing raw files from your digital camcorder.

Not true at all. Codecs are used to transform data in a stream from one form to another. They not are exclusive to cameras. And yes the movie maker format does make use of codecs. it just happens to be ones it installed

It's just me or the images are in reverse color?
I see the sky orange/red, people are green, Grass is blue, and some really nice colors for BMW motorcycles...

That was very well done. I played it through my media center onto my 36" HDTV and it looked awsome. It makes me want to start messing around with the movie maker software.

Dave,
Great video! I've been on all of those rides(except your commutes to work) and now can show the family what it was like. The commute rides had the best music. Saw KWS at Naperville, IL Rib Fest last year. What a guitarist!
What ever set-up you are using for the camera work. It's perfect. How did you get the shot of your ride and then the camera was rotated to shoot you?

You can do some cool things with movie maker.
say for instance you had a pile of photos from a motorcycle trip.you can scan the photos, or better yet if they are on digital camera put the photos in to a folder and go hunting for your favourite song as an mp3 or rip it from a cd as an mp3 , there is plenty of freeware mp3 cd rippers around, i use this

http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/

next go in to movie maker and import the song and import the picture.

if you have never done this before then you can simply press the make an auto movie button , follow the prompts and presto, at the end of it you will have young song and depending on how many photos you have it will add them all *ATTEMPT* to set them to music.
if you do an auto movie, if you go nuts with pictures and say have 100 pictures, it will not add all the photos.

you can do this manually, but this is another lesson...

once you have this done you can save the file to your pc in a number of different formats.you can save it for 56k modem download, or save it with maximum quality avi.
if you save it as maximum qulaity avi you can easily convert it to dvd format and burn it to dvd and save your master peace for generations to come and watch.
