Finally Got All 48!

It is with great pride that I am now able to change the States Visited map in my signature to include all 48 states. Yea I know there's 50 now but don't think I'll ever do AK. May get Hawaii next year, the wife wants to go. Anyway I needed 6 to complete the lower 48 and I got to visit all of them over the last couple of weeks. Here's a summary trip report"

Two weeks ago my ridding buddy and I woke up early had some bacon and eggs for breakfast and left Glen St Mary, FL on a little motorcycle ride. Two weeks and one day later we arrived back home after roughly 4800 miles. Not bad for one 'ol Phart and one almost ol' Phart! We experienced cold, hot, rain, sunshine, wind, wind gusts, hail and more wind ! We saw lots of amazing things, some natural and some man made. We saw giant cattle ranches, 100's of thousands of acres of corn fields, green prairie land that stretched as far as the eye can see, more miles of two lane arrow straight roads with 70 mph speed limits than I'd like to remember and several National Parks and Monuments. Also saw some wild life including Big Horn Sheep, Mule Deer, White Tail Deer, wild Turkey, a couple of Antelope and in Wyoming a cattle drive coming straight up the two lane road right at us. We parked on the shoulder while they passed. Overall an amazing trip with many memories that will last a life time. Lots of photos and some video's which if I can figure out how to edit and post to a Web site I'll be sharing with those that might be interested. The missing states that we visited were, WI,MN, SD, ND, NE and IA. My new to me R1200RT ran flawlessly, No fuel gauge failures, no rear drive failures, no switch gear failures and my new Sargents seat treated my butt just fine.

Congratulations, Lynn.
Have fun in Hawaii.
You've got to get out to the other islands, not just Oahu.
The adventure continues.
Safe riding.

Re: Finally Got All 48!

Congrats Lynn, I doubt that I'll ever get all 48 states. The only time I get enough time off to ride out west is in the winter & retirement is not something I've ever consider doing as much as I like my line of work.

Re: Finally Got All 48!

Congrats Lynn. Hawaii is a great place. Take a few island hops while there. Big island is great at night to get up close to the volcano.
Lots to see. Traffic is a bear on oahu though.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying " I'll try again tomorrow".

Think maybe you misunderstood. This 2 week trip was designed only to collect the remaining 6 of the 48 that I had not previously visited. The first 42 were visited previously and not all on a single trip.

Wow! You are now one of my MC heroes. I hope to complete the lower 48 one day but have a lot more to complete than you did. BTW, you can rent bikes on the big island and ride over the top of Mauna Loa. Also if you take a cruise up to Alaska, you can rent a GS in Anchorage, ...just sayin'

Re: Finally Got All 48!

Great news and accomplishment Lynn, looking forward to the pictures
also good to hear the"Sargent" was good to your posterior,
just wondering what is the 'threshold for "almost old phart"?

Cattle drive in Wyoming sounds like a memorable time,
I'll never forget a few cows in the road and that one standing in front of the general store in Texas.

Going to have to plan a road trip now to complete my 48,
since I suspect I might be approaching "the threshold"
should be easy I'm only missing one,
for whatever reason I've never been in Delaware.

Next time I retire I might want to try Alaska,
although renting a bike sounds a hell of a lot easier than riding all the way up there.

That's me also. We tried when we came back from CCR 2010 in Vermont but somehow we didn't make it. Then the next year we sere in Ohio seeing a friend and we were going to zip over but Hurricane Irene (I think that was the one) decided that we were not going to the East coast.

Congrats on the 48! It's still my goal and I guess it'll give me something to look forward to.
