All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Re: Zachary Quinto vs. Leonard Nimoy: "The Challenge"

THAT was lots of fun.

I wonder how they got Nimoy to spoof his own character so many times? Must have been a big 'ole check.

Re: Zachary Quinto vs. Leonard Nimoy: "The Challenge"

I saw Nimoy speak years ago when he was still worried about his image. This was much more fun.

Also saw Shatner speak at Phoenix ComiCon last year. He has absolutely no filters and no shame and is hilarious. Like your grandpa that has long since given up caring what anyone else thinks of him, and just says whatever comes to mind . . .

For anyone who doesn't get the Bilbo Baggins reference, click here.

I got the Bilbo reference, but am not getting the very end with the red/white Audi. Any help?

Re: Zachary Quinto vs. Leonard Nimoy: "The Challenge"

The car at the end of the commercial was the Audi Autonomous TT concept car, which drove itself away after the driver got out.

The driver is actor Bruce Greenwood, who plays Christopher Pike (first Captain of the Enterprise) in the new JJ Abrams Star Trek movies. Captain Pike meets Kirk as a young man and convinces him to join Starfleet. Pike initially made Spock acting Captain and Kirk acting First Officer, but eventually turned over command to Kirk.

I thought it was going to be Shatner in the last car, but apparently, he's busy doing ads for the Start Trek video game.

Also, the scene where Nimoy pretends to be stuck in the car was a parody of Spock's death scene in The Wrath of Khan movie, and the 3D chess they start out playing is also an old Star Trek staple.

All in all, it was very well done.

Re: Zachary Quinto vs. Leonard Nimoy: "The Challenge"

I got the various references but did not notice Bruce Greenwood driving the car. Back to the video for me!

PS: The next Star Trek movie comes out shortly. Can't wait. I've seen the previous one many times and think it's very, very well done and entertaining. They messed around with the Star Trek back stories but... whatever.

edit: OK, just back from watching the video twice. Still don't recognize him. He exits briskly and then walks away; even pausing the video I couldn't tell it was him. Maybe I need a better monitor. Still, a neat video. Thanks, Ken.

Talking Re: Zachary Quinto vs. Leonard Nimoy: "The Challenge"

Can't wait to see the new movie.

Many, many years ago when I was in the dorm a bunch of us would head down to the lobby to riff on the old star trek series. Most memorable comment was when someone asked why a guy was turning this huge valve in the middle of a red alert. Someone pipes up and says He's turning off water to the toilets in case the ship turns upside down
