Re: Want to see what happens when you stall a Globemaster on takeoff?

That was a 747-400.

Quick guess would be possible wind shear.

I stand corrected, thanks for pointing that out.

From some of the reports stated that it was carrying military armored vehicles and somehow the there was an incident where the straps came loose or broken and unbalanced the plane as it took off.

I was thinking either Load Shifted or Elevator Froze (control surface failure).

Seven? lives lost.

Unhappy Re: Want to see what happens when you stall a Globemaster on takeoff?

Almost has to be a case of the Load shifting. For whatever reason the load slides toward the rear and it becomes a situation you cannot overcome. If you notice the plane is almost straight up with all engines fire-walled. It almost comes to a hover, then slowly rolls over and pancakes in. Probably no fault of the flight crew here other than the Load-master if he did not properly check for proper restraint of the load. But we'll probably never know for sure and he has certainly paid his dues since he was on board. Sad day for all involved.

Re: Want to see what happens when you stall a Globemaster on takeoff?

The Detroit News reported that there was a report from the plane of a cargo shift. Six on board were from the Detroit area. I just re-read the article & the report of the cargo shift is no longer there.
