Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me; I want people to know 'why' I look this way.
I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

My hat's off in deep admiration for all the public servants at the sight...policemen, firemen all running towards the site of the explosion when everyone else was running away. Those are special people.

Life happens...you control your reaction.

Re: Boston Marathon Bombing

Let's just hope that it was a terrorist bomb, to die that way has at least some tatty glory attached to it, to die that some misunderstood wannabe Breivik can jack off to the carnage would be sad.

Re: Boston Marathon Bombing

Doesn't matter who did it, or why, with the exception of finding clues to catch the person/s and serve them justice.

Those who are dead, injured, or traumatized by this terrible event, and all those who care about them, have had their lives changed forever. Why doesn't matter at all, and doesn't change anything about this tragedy.

The motives of a lunatic mean nothing to the sufferers . . .

Huh? Ken, I think you're looking at this far too logically, devoid of the emotions attached to a tragedy like this. Sufferers always want to know the "why". It helps bring closure. Even if they can't understand the "why" ... for some reason, they still want to know it. They NEED to know it.

Love the crowd reactions and support of law enforcement ... the street lined applause as they demobilized was heart warming.

Re: Boston Marathon Bombing

Heard the kid now has an assigned public defender - who will be hoping he can get this kid off with just life without parole (sort of like Jodi Arias).

There is going to be significant pressure for the feds to prosecute according to the federal death penalty provisions that his crimes make possible. While no sane person can enjoy killing any one, sometimes doing the unpleasant / distasteful to reaffirm the value of innocent lives is important so I'm not about to object to that. 4 people killed for no reason ought to be enough to cost him his life, not even adding all the injured..

IMO, the death penalty has nothing to do with revenge or crime prevention and everything to do with reinforcing important values. There certainly won't be any doubt about real guilt in this case- far too many witnesses and irrefutable evidence (unlike here in NC state cases where a number of folks on death row, both black and white, have been proven innocent by later data. Raises a lot of questions about evidence stds for the death penalty)

Re: Boston Marathon Bombing

It has just been on the wireless that the brothers were in fact radical islamists, these islamist buggers don't make it easy for the love to flow, don't they?
That raises the question (also on the radio) that they then are to be considered enemy combatants, this is gonna drag painfully on before the surviving brother goes to the firing squad.
