Having crossed a few times in the past, I was curious, so looked it up. A few ways to go about it:

Re: Hello Califronia

Looks like there are a lot of places around, kiosks and service stations, which will take your $$$$ for a license pass. It should make coming back into the city better, reduced to no lines! A couple times that I crossed took a while waiting in line going south. Of course it will take a period of time to get where some people stop slowing down, OR STOPPING, causing confusion and probably rear end collisions.

Be advised if you are pulling a trailer they will nail you for a three axel load (even though you only have four wheels) and that is $9! This was back in 09 when they still took greenbacks.

Thanks but no trailer in the picture.
I intend to pack light and enjoy the outdoors. Bond with nature if I'm not to old. Hope the trip is not one stumble after the next. AZ 89, the bridge and Whibey Is. WA. This is an inconvenience $6 at the booth is much simpler than all the new ways they came up with.

and surprising too since Bay Area politicians are such a model for intelligence and enlightened governance (I swear this beautiful state embarrasses the crap out of me half the time).

Re: Hello Califronia

You only have to pay if you are travelling south across the bridge, so if you can, just go over northbound on your trip.

Sights set on mid June.
However not etched in stone a few here or there could move it forward a few days or push it back a week. Once it is in concrete though I will post. The only constant is the family visits are not flexible, kids school time in southern CA. And again whether I stop in Vegas for another visit before going to CA. Sounds good.

I was not questioning paying the toll.
Just the run around to accomplish visiting the area. Initially I would be traveling south to north. Since it is my first visit and on chance of a different prospective in the opposite direction taking pictures and all I now have to consider a lot more. Exact fees are OK but if I have to go to a completely different place to pay toll and then get back to my intended route. Did I like, do I want to do it again or pay ahead and find out I do not want to tact back. So that's what this minor/major drama does for a cycle visitor.
