Where To Buy A Gs911?

I'm considering purchasing a GS 911 to support my new to me 2011 R1200RT. Looks like there is a single importer/distributor in the US and any business that is offer these for sale all have the same price starting at $299. Also aware that there are apparently some Chinese knock offs out there that will not provide the full functionality nor accept the OEM software updates. So, my question this diverse and knowledgeable group is; Has anyone found a place to buy an original GS911 at anything less than the full asking pride?

Not cheap and they all charge the same price.
Like you said avoid Chinese Knockoffs. They are on Ebay.

USA distributor.

I checked overseas distributors and compared pricing with the exchange rate and found some to be more expensive. The USA price is the best. Unless you find one on sale the price is pretty much set.

Re: Where To Buy A Gs911?

The only time I have seen a discount is at the MOA rally. I wanted to "upgrade" my non BT unit to a BT unit. They did not have a program for that but suggested I buy the BT unit and sell my USB only unit. So I did and I sold mine to another member here for a discount.Bob's BMW also has them but they are the $299 you mentioned. I think they were 249 (USB) and 299 (BT) at the rally.

Hi, Lynn. You could call the distributors, tell them you're looking to buy the GS-911 and ask if they're offering a discount and covering shipping. They might say no, but it never hurts to ask! Good luck.

Re: Where To Buy A Gs911?

Make sure you get the right version for your bike. I believe there was a change to the CANbus system on the newer RT and GT/GTL bikes. The CANbus protocols are completely different, and the existing GS-911 won't work on the newer bikes.

I know they're working on a newer compatible version, but it isn't finished yet. So I'd contact them directly and ask before spending any cash.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Below is the response from HEXCODE concerning my inquiry concerning compatibility with the current R1200RT's. For now I guess it's only the 1600 and maybe the new GS if it's also put the diagnosis on the CANbus circuit.

| hi Lynn,

| Thank you for contacting us!
|
| not sure who advised you, but there are no issues with compatibility... I'm guessing the person that did so is thinking of the K1600GT and K1600GTL, where the diagnosis bus now also is CAN, which naturally is a completely different interface to the previous generation...

Re: Where To Buy A Gs911?

So that clears that up.

I know the K16 bikes have the newer CANbus, and the '10 and up RT's have the newer switchgear, so I wondered if they had started with the newer CANbus as well. Guess not.

But it was worth asking to be sure.

I'm guessing the new WetHead GS will also have the newer CANbus system.
