AnyFootball Fans....

Got a pretty big weekend of football with the start of the NFL playoffs and the biggest game of the year Monday night the BCS Championship.

Not a big fan of the NFL in season but get a little more enthused during the playoffs. Really don't like the antics of the players, too much of a me thing, but the playoffs seem to be a little better.....I like Denver to come out of the AFC and just because I'm an old Redskins fan I'll pick them in the NFC.

College football is king here in the south, and Alabama is in the chair now. Should be a good ball game, both have great Ds, Can the SEC make it 7 in a row? Never been much of a Golden Domer and for that matter never cared much for 'Bama, but being in the SEC, guess I'll pull for the Crimson Tide.

Re: AnyFootball Fans....

I'm a bigger NFL fan than I am a college football fan ... especially since the Penn State debacle. Although I live in oHIo, I'm not the biggest Buckeyes fan ... but that's starting to turn around with the new coaching staff.

I love the Bowl games though, and I try to watch every one that I can. I picked Texas A&M last night, and they smoked Bobby's Sooners.

We've got some guys from down-south that have a pretty friendly rivalry between 'Bama and the Vols (Hey Brett and Don ). But, as you know, the Vols haven't been doing much lately, so Brett's been pretty quiet.

As for the NFL Playoffs this weekend, I'll pick the Texans, Packers, Colts, and Seahawks. Let's see how well I do.

I'll be glued to the tube for the Vikings/Greenbay game! Rooting for the Vikes, but I know it's going to be a tough one to beat them a second time! Still looking forward to it, though.

Even though I was rooting for the Pack, yes, I wanted to see Ponder play. Reminded me of when the Cleveland Indians signed David Justice and then he didn't play in the World Series because his shoulder hurt. Gimme a freakin' break!!! Get out there and PLAY!!! That's what you're making MILLIONS for!!!

Joe, do you want me to sing Rocky Top?

Me quite Don knows that I am still a big Vols fan but you are right, I have had to hear it from him and his 'Bama buddies' for the last 5 years at the Fall Gathering.....

I am a true SEC fan (except for Florida) and must pull for Alabama tomorrow night, ND doesn't stand a chance. Maybe the B Bryant idol ( ) will be removed and will be replaced by Saban if they win tomorrow night.

Re: AnyFootball Fans....

Can you imagine how much pressure coach Smith is under taking the Falcons into the post season with an 0-3 record? They have to at least win the first game. I'm pulling for them but they've had too many "it ain't pretty" wins during the season.

I totally agree. And the Hawks just seem to keep winning. Should be a good one.

Re: AnyFootball Fans....

Out here in 'Hawks heaven, we're kinda glad it's the Falcons next...we think they're beatable. All of our rookies were deer in the headlights at the beginning of yesterday's game, but you can sure tell the team chemistry is different as they didn't repeat past behavior and fold like a cheap suit. Kudos to Russell Wilson...great leader, hardest working man on the team and he has earned the respect of his teammates.

Go "Hawks!!

Re: AnyFootball Fans....

have I said how much I dislike Shanahan....

after the first time RG3 limped off the field yesterday he should have been pulled. shanahan cares more about his winning % than a player's health.

did say that i despise Shanahan?

I actually think he would have had a better chance of winning with Cousins at QB, but NNOOOOOO

Did I say that I hate Shanahan?

end of rant.........

Now on to the BCS.....

with out a doubt that was an absolute rompin'. stompin' butt cuttin'......I mean what did it take 'Bama to score their 1st TD, 2 minutes. Not that I thought ND ever had a chance of coming back but when Bama score with 11sec before half, I changed the channel.

7 in a row for the SEC......nuff said.

as a side saw USAtoday' s top 25 for next year, yep Bama is at the top. think there was 6 SEC teams in the top 15.

It says a lot when the biggest story to come out of the game is the 'Bama quarterback's girlfriend (not that I'm complaining, of course).

This is the Chit Chat sub-forum. In this forum we talk about computers, cars, trucks, smartphones, etc., etc... We can't have one little thread about football? Are you kidding???

I can't understand for the life of my why you'd even open this thread if you're not a fan ... much less take the time to comment!

Re: AnyFootball Fans....

What was really embarrassing about the Bama game was Brent slobbering over the quarterback's girlfriend while the camera operator held an uncomfortably long shot of the girl. Damn, and if that wasn't enough he goes on to tell young guys to pick up a football and start throwing it. Since there wasn't much of a game going on it would have been entertaining if the girl's father showed up and kicked his ass.

I'll have to admit the conversation was getting a little creepy but the comment about going to the back yard and throwing it around to be a QB....2 pics the first is Johnny Manziel's GF, the 2nd in McCarron's GF, After seeing these, hmmm not a bad idea, right?

People need to get over the Brent Mussburger comment, yes he may have stayed a little too long on the subject, but did you see that boat!

If I was 35 years younger I would be throwing a football around in the back yard!

Oh, that's right I did, and I found me the prettiest 'boat'!

Extra Extra

Dirty Birds pull out the ugliest win of the season, and coach Smith finally has one for the post season win column.

I thought for sure they were sunk. Who was the the genius who decided to change offensive strategy after the half? They were up by 13 with about 7 min on the clock. All they had to do was pick up first downs and run down the clock. But no they panicked and try to go long resulting in a turn over.

Re: AnyFootball Fans....

Yep ... 'twas a funky weekend for me. I LOATHE the Ravens. It'll be nice to watch them eat crow next week.

As for the Falcons, yep, the 4th quarter sure was a bit mysterious. Almost like Las Vegas was calling the plays.

watched the 1st half of the Atl/Sea game and with the score 20-0, I went riding, got back for the 2nd half of Hou/NE.....could not believe the Falcons almost lost that game......

sometimes coaches get too smart/cute for their own good. they shut the O down and play prevent D. That strategy cost Denver Saturday. Fox took the football out of Peyton's hands, and speaking of Peyton, what was with the gloves?....has he turned wussy on us?

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me; I want people to know 'why' I look this way.
I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I didn't see that as being a wuss. It was way cold, and the ball had very little grip. If gloves helps that issue, I don't see a problem. Even if it were because his hands were too cold, I still don't see an issue. Lots of players where gloves for different reasons. In any case ... he won't need them next week.

Re: AnyFootball Fans....

I meant the Wussy part jokingly....Peyton has been in the league a long time and played in some cold weather before just never seen him wear one...especially on his right hand.

Flacco didn't wear one.

That was a bad int he threw there late in the 4th, but I still blame John Fox, he took his foot off the accelerator. Just look at Blinchek on Sunday, even though he was up 13 he kept trying to score...it ended up he needed most of those points.
