2013 new years day ride

My wife I had a nice 150 mile new years day ride today. We went from Zephyrhills FL up to around Inverness & back on back roads. It was a nice 77 & mostly sunny. We saw a lot of other people out on there motorcycles ...

I rode too. A friend and I were the only ones who rode to our Blue Knights (law enforcement motorcycle club) meeting. But it was 48 degrees and raining so that may have made a difference.

Got a couple of hundred miles in too. Mostly in the twisties in the Santa Monica Mountains. Mid thirties when I left the house and got into the 50's by the time I returned. Slick in spots but a nice day to be out.

Happy New Year to all.

Chilly temperatures kept the size of the contingent for our annual Death Valley ride down to about a dozen hardy souls. Low 30s leaving Las Vegas but warming nicely to 50 degrees as we approached sea level. No better way to start a New Year than a ride with friends.

it was raining to much to break the bike out....so I vegged out in the lounge chair and watched the bowl games....speaking of games did any one happen to see the hit in the Outback game? I'm surprised the kid got up....check it out.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me; I want people to know 'why' I look this way.
I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I went out and looked at mine under the cover, 27 degrees and nice and lots of ice.

Re: 2013 new years day ride

We had a lovely clear New Year's day here. Temps in the low 40's but I have heated gear so I got all togged out and off I went. Turned back after 3 miles due to increasing noise from the rear. The LT is now in the shop for FD investigation.

Anyway, Happy New Year to you all from the Emerald Isle.

Re: 2013 new years day ride

Unlike last year - when we were in the middle of the mildest winter ever, and had our choice of New Year's Day rides to go on - this year we stayed inside and watched the additional snow accumulation, on top of the previous snowfalls, on top of 2" of ice.

Glad you guys had a good day of riding.
