Irony

If I do not have adBlock on then I am bombarded with political advertising. However it is unacceptable for members to post political topics. What is going on here folks?

Re: Irony

Personnaly, I find the non-moto posts annoying and a distraction. I have my own sources for news and opinion, and don't expect to find this stuff on a moto site. Does anyone really rely on this site for news and opinion on topics other than motorcycle related?

Let the flaming begin...

2013 BMW K1600GLT (I love this bike!)...
2005 BMW K1200LT, a/k/a "Fat Bottomed Girl" (traded for 2013 K1600GLT)...
1998 Honda VFR800, the finest sport/tourer ever created...
1978 Yamaha DT400E, because I just can't leave the sound of a two-stroke behind...

Patrick, you must be the prince of dipolmacy. "Irony" is not the word I would have used.

No, not at all.

Political posts, or anything that might even vaguely be interpreted as such, are shut down quickly and without warning.

Yet political ads are inserted at random, and we have to use special ad blocking software to remove them.

Yes, that does seem a bit off.

Now I know that the difference is between the new site owners, who use ads to hopefully generate revenue, and the older moderators, who are so gun shy as to be quite quick with the censorship just in case something might get "funny".

But the original point made in this thread is still valid, and I, and many others, still don't like it.

And speaking of funny, there seems to be quite a bit more leeway in the Humor forum, so apparently, that's where you get to discuss politics and religion, as long as you make a joke out of it first. And face it, anything to do with politics and religion is always a joke . . .

C'mon now, John, you're just jealous because I'm really good at it . . .

And yet, all those folks that I've discussed and debated with over the years on a wide variety of topics are still here, and still contributing to this community. Hell, I've sat down and had drinks with most of them at CCR and various other tech sessions and RTE's.

So it seems to me that it's all good, when we can all be adults about it.

Re: Irony

Yeah, that one was so simple, almost childish, that it didn't really even rate a mention . . .
