Munich. Just in time for the start of the 2006 season, the BMW Branch in Munich is opening its new Motorcycle Centre at Frankfurter Ring 29, right next to the main operation.

The world's largest BMW Motorcycle Centre, which is unique in this style to date, will be opening to customers over a total area of 9,000 m2, after around a year's renovation work and investments of 5.6 million euros.

The former "Halmburger & Höflich" premises have been completely refurbished and now offer customers the opportunity to explore the complete world of BMW motorcycles over an area covering 3,000 m2. The manager of the BMW Motorcycle Centre is Felix Herrnberger, who has also been responsible for the motorcycle business of the BMW Munich branch to date. The operation will employ 79 people in total.

In the new BMW Motorcycle Centre, it will be possible to view the complete BMW motorcycle range in various colour and equipment variants. Customers will also find an extensive selection of used motorcycles. On average, over 200 motorcycles will be constantly in stock. A further focal point is the spacious shop and boutique area on the first floor, which offers a wide range of products in a light and friendly atmosphere. The competent specialist staff will be able to advise on matters relating to the current driver equipment collection, and will also offer a very wide range of original spares and accessories.

The service area is also at the cutting edge of technology. It provides 25 work stations for mechanics, with exhaust removal and special diagnostic equipment, including an electronic frame measuring unit.
A separate BMW mobile servicing unit and a winter storage option complete this unique facility for providing perfect customer service.

Wolfgang Armbrecht, Head of the BMW Branch in Munich: "We are delighted and very proud to be able to open this new centre of competence for all matters relating to BMW motorcycles. We would like to invite all those who are interested to the opening celebrations this Saturday, 25 March, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. In addition to our vast range of new and used motorcycles, we will also be offering a dazzling fashion show with the latest driver equipment."

The new BMW Motorcycle Centre will be open from 25 March 2006, from 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays). Service: Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Is that right next to the giant tea cup museum? Been there, it was pretty cool.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

There's just something so wrong about Jeff announcing the grand opening of the "world's largest BMW motorcycle center", and Ken following up with "the giant tea cup museum" question. So wrong!

NO, NO, THIS CAN'T BE!! We all know that Daytona BMW is the "WORLD'S LARGEST BMW MOTORCYCLE DEALER". After all, it says so on the back cover of every issue of the MOA's Owner's News. I often wondered what enabled them to make that claim so publicly? Wonder if they'll change after this announcement?

I also believe the spin they take is the combined BMW of Daytona/BMW of Orlando (same owner) makes for the "World's Largest BMW Motorcycle Dealer".

wink wink, nudge nudge

Unfortunately Daytona was advertising BIGGEST, BEST WHATEVER before they bought Orlando. Besides, when I recently needed a new slave cyl and clutch I called Orlando for an appointment they told me it would be 3 weeks before they could get me in. Whomever I talked to told me they only had 1 tech.

It's interesting you bring that up. When that facility was built, they actually had a facility that was supposed to be used for motorcycle production. With the dollar in the tank for the forseeable future, I would have thought BMW would have moved some production (for the most popular units in the Americas) to the Greenville site.
