Charger question

I know someone asked this question once someplace. Can you use your battery charger plugged into the auxilliary plug that is located by the rear speaker behind the pillion.I forgot to connect the lower one up at the end of last year when I had the tupperware off and have been charging directly to the battery with the supplied alligator clips. Thanks in advance for any help.

I think I recall reading that the passenger accessory socket is on a switched circuit, whereas the driver's socket is unswitched.

I know that this is true of the driver's socket because (a) I use it to connect my Battery Tender and it will charge the battery even when the forks are locked; and (b) last weekend my heated seat (left on "low") drained my battery with the forks locked (I have the seat temporarily powered through the driver's accessory port).

If the rear socket is on a switched circuit, I think the battery charger might not work unless you put the ignition in the "accessory" setting (which would also burn your parking light).

I'd suggest testing the circuit or searching the forum to confirm. The owner's manual may have the answer, too.
