pay attention to the road

http://youtu.be/ZMTZNggZQsI

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying " I'll try again tomorrow".

Re: pay attention to the road

WOW!
Now, I have to ask, because of the recent repeal of the Michigan helmet law....

For the guy who hit the trailer, after doing so, what was the first of his body parts to contact anything but air?

I hope he is ok, that was nasty looking. It could have been so much worse though....

Re: pay attention to the road

Looks like the tennis shoes left about the time he flew off the bike. The only gear I saw was a helmet. He is luck to survive this. No excuse for this other than not paying attention.

Re: pay attention to the road

That is almost too painful to watch. So I watched it several times. I guess I was curious where the guy came from - he was on a bike between the 2 others, and overtaking them (1 bike with the camera in the left part of the lane, the other bike in the right part of the lane, the guy who was injured was running up between them, it seems.

Let's be careful out there and for heaven's sake pay attention to what's happening in front of you.

I didn't see any brake lights or turn signals on the trailer. Both dangerous and illegal.

Re: pay attention to the road

Mr. Zeller, looks like those may have been those lace up low profile riding shoes. He did have gloves on and a riding jacket. The first thing that hit was his right hand then right arm/shoulder and helmet. Those lace up shoes and even the mid range boots can come off especially with all of the G's there are on a leave off and spin like he did.

Also looks like the guy with the camera went down as well you can see the sideways angle and the asphalt going by.

Yes, right shoulder, then head just after, and with a ton of force. I know exactly how painful this accident it, as years ago, I was launched off my dirt bike in this same manner. The only difference being, I was not traveling quite this fast. I was traveling only fast enough to be rotated on my x axis 180 degrees. I landed on my left shoulder, and helmet just after. The helmet was badly cracked, and totaled. My rotator cuff shattered. At the time, I was a ripe, old 18. It only took 18 months for a "full" recovery.

Anyway, comparing his hit to mine, taking in account my much slower rate of travel which still ended in the destruction of my helmet, I am sure he would have died if he was not wearing one.

Though this accident looks brutal, it does not look as if the rider actually contacted the trailer. That would have been way worse than what did happen.

Re: pay attention to the road

I searched for motorcycle trailer crash on you tube on my iPhone and found two more videos after the one linked here was taken down. Massive looking mess!
