Riding from Yuma to Tijuanna on Mex2

It's not far - maybe 175-200 miles or so, but never having done it before, I have some questions. I assume gas will be no problem - especially if I top off beforehand. I hear the route is pretty - anybody done it? Do I really need to worry about having Mexican currency? Plastic along the way ok? Or dollars? Frankly I don't envision needing much along the way, but thought I'd ask.

Am on my way to the Striking Viking homecoming in Tijuana and leave Chicago on Wednesday. Figured I'd goof off for a bit on the way down. Coming back next Monday-Wednesday. May squeeze another BBG in their somewhere...

US currency is well excepted in Mexico. One thing that you really need is Mexican insurance for the bike. Its been a long time since I have drove down to Mexico so maybe one of the southwest guys will chime in with more. Have a good ride.

We've been down 5 to San Felipe, then across 3 to Ensenada and up 1 back to TJ and the US. No real problems on any of the roads. They're just rural roads through the desert, as expected. The road quality varies, but no problems on an LT or any other road bike. And yes gas is available at major towns, but fill up before hand anyway so you don't have to think about it. And that close to the border, they'll gladly take dollars, though the exchange rate can be a little rough.

Say hi to Glen for me. Sorry I can't make his little suarez, but I'm at the wrong end of the west coast.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
