H.O.G. benevolence...Not!

At the BMWNEF's monthly meeting the first order of business is to introduce new members. We openly accept all riders regardless of what they ride. The new member rises, introduces himself, describes his ride, a K1600, and sits. He's asked to rise again and relate his H.O.G. story.

Seems earlier that week the local HD dealer sponsored a charity ride (Harley parade, leathers, bandanas, wife beater T-shirts, NO helmets of course, you know the scene. Staunch individuals expressing their individuality but somehow all dressed alike?).

Our new member, a H.O.G. member and still a HD owner, was positioned behind the dealership's general sales manager. Did I mention he's on his new shiny bright K1600!
The ride was uneventful until our member arrived home.

There's a message waiting as he enters his house. It's from the local H.O.G. chapter.
He's informed that his attendance and participation in future H.O.G. events is NOT welcome.

You can draw your own conclusions.

Ride safely.

Re: H.O.G. benevolence...Not!

I can't draw very well. Did your new member get un-invited to all future HOG gatherings due to riding a K1600 to the HOG event or because he discussed the ride at a BMWNEF meeting? Was the new member riding in full gear, or was he in shorts, flops, and no helmet?

Send a nice drawing and I can trace it!

I think there's more to this story than we're getting.

Re: H.O.G. benevolence...Not!

I gather he attended the H.O.G. event riding his new BMW K1600 and following the HD dealership general manager. After the event, he arrived home to find the note advising he was not longer welcome at H.O.G. events. Can't believe someone on a Harley beat him home. Dude needs to learn how to ride that K1600!

Um, even Harley guys know how to use phones these days . . .

Unless the "message" was a roundel with a stake driven through it on the front lawn, or a leaky final drive nailed to his garage door . . .

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

OK, I read the post twice. I won't read it again. I'm dumber than a brick. So, the moral of the story is.......

Wait - I GET it!!

Always dress like a pirate, no matter what you ride?

Re: H.O.G. benevolence...Not!

I read it (twice) and I got it, but I'm just dumbfounded that any group could be that (insert adjective here). Are they really that insecure? You go from being one of "the guys" to being shunned because your next bike is not one of theirs?

Boo. Hiss. Shame on them.

OK, I get it, but just to let you know that they are not all bad. Several years ago the the young lady that owned the MSF Motorcycle school where I worked was in a life threatening accident-"T" boned by a drunk while stopped at a red light. The local HOG chapter held a charity ride for her. I showed up for the ride on my LT in full riding gear and parked in a sea of Harleys expecting to get some grief. The only thing I got was a bunch of questions about the bike, especially from the ladies. They all wanted to know if it was quiet and did it vibrate! Not sure if they thought vibration was good or bad? OH yea, the only harassment I got was at the frequent "rest stops" 'cause I was drinking diet PEPSI instead of throwing down a couple of beers!

No doubt, Lynn - my comments were directed at the specific group he rode with, not all of our HD riders.

Last month I did a SS1000 with 9 other bikes as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. 7 Harleys, 2 Honda cruisers, and me. All good guys.
