Getting Drunk in a BAR can get you arrested

Sometimes you just gotta wonder about our wonderful Texas government agencies

No wonder Kinky Freidman is starting to take off in the polls!

"TABC representatives said the arrests were meant to prevent drunken driving."

Does that include the people who were arrested in a hotel bar, who had rooms there that night?

And wasn't there a recent discussion about the movie Minority Report? I don't think bars are automatically "safe" places, but to go into them looking for people to arrest, just in case they might cause problems, is pretty far over the line.

(Insert Ron White joke here.)

If you want to curtail drunk driving, then make the penalties severe and immediate. Like losing all driving privileges permanently, plus the various fines, mandatory rehab, etc.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Ken:

The first thought that popped into my head was Ron White's skit about being "thrown into public!!" NYC.

There may be some merit to taking drunks off of the street but I question the tactics. Although, consider how prostitution is being tackled. Same tactics... go find the street corner and arrest the John's.

"Minority Report"? Yes, absolutely. Sounds like the guys in this article were part of Texas' Pre-Crime Unit. You know, make the arrest before the crime is committed...

I, too, thought of Ron White's (Red Neck Comedy Tour) "drunk in public" story. He was in a bar, got into an argument, was thrown out of the bar, and was then arrested for "public drunkenness".

Now if they would just bust into the Verizon store and get a few of those people before they talk and drive.

Friedman, Naw never happen, there just waiting to play the J card. The preachers don't start telling everyone for whom to vote until just before the election.

eljeffe, you better close the drapes when your at home drinkin, and no more backyard BBQ, you'll blow yourself up sauteing with beer.

Yea, pretty soon if you convert to "one of those other religions" they will throw you into the slammer. "To the folks in those other religions, have you checked out the weather in Californy", will read the Dallas billboard.

The only safe place to drink is at home and has been for a long time now! When are they going to arrest you when you purchase it so you dont get drunk?
