Weather coverage by radar.

Had a ping off-site asking if I would post the NOAA weather radar page location that I use which provides nationwide radar coverage of precipitation, in a loop fashion. I use it often for my own local benefit, as well as to check on my bro's and sister's where they live - have also added it to the iPhone. Hope you find it useful, or at least as a supplement to your preferred weather reporting sources.

Click here for the full version and in the small boxes below the national map, you can zero in for a specific regional area, and further drill down to local radar sites. Enjoy.

Re: Weather coverage by radar.

I look at that every day we are expecting nasty weather. Gives you a quick look for planning for what is headed your way. There is a great app for smart phones, usually sponsored by a local TV station. The one I have loaded shows up n the store as "WAFF Weather" but I am sure there are other stations out there affiliated with the app. I have used it on the LT as I can get real time radar anywhere in the US when I am in cell range.

Re: Weather coverage by radar.

Awesome Dick!
I normally watch the weather channel and cross reference with my computer no smart phone. But this is more detailed and I can zero in on my area of choice. Never knew this existed well for the layman that is. My first ride in the rain many many years ago I wish I had this. My wife asked where I was going. I said I wanted to see what it was like in the rain first time/first bike. Wish I had this then. A little nervous out the door but after a few miles on the toll road I ran in to a cyclone/hurricane/ Noah Arc rain, did not regret it but it taught me a lesson be careful what you wish for. Thanks again for the site.

If you do not have on your phone, you can always look it up on a computer in the hotel/motel lobby while on a trip to see what is in store for your day ahead.

Re: Weather coverage by radar.

I like the WEATHER BUG app for my smart phone. It has a feature called MY LOCATION which uses the GPS function to find your location and provides a 5 day forecast and active radar centered on your exact location. Can also program in multiple cities and obtain the same info in real time.

Re: Weather coverage by radar.

Thanks Dick,

I like the overall US map. I found another smaller one that then allows you to click on just a region.

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ridge/Conus/index_loop.php

Below is one site that will tell you more than you'll possible ever care to know about any section of the US. They must have 25+ different screens. Fun to look at occasionally.

This one is for, what else, Florida!

Re: Weather coverage by radar.

MyRadar for iPhone (free) is also great, it gives zoomable radar for wherever you are instantly, and can search for other locations
