Group Buy - Harbor Freight Lift!!

Gentlemen -

It just so happens that my oldest son's baseball coach works at Harbor Freight.

He can offer at least 20% MORE off the SALE price, so if anyone is interested start signing up and I'll get him a count so he can firm up the price.

Had mine for over a month now and I can safely say it's a good lift for the money..

No it's not an 800.00 lift..But it seems to work just fine for me...

Great price and it looks like a nice lift. I'll be going by Harbor freight to take a look, up close and personal.

Ted,

I'm in if you can get the 20% additional... How do we deal with shipping, etc.

Let me know.

Thanks

Bought one today - the last one at the Greenville, SC Harbor Freight store. Now I have to figger out how to move the 400 lb. gorilla from my trailer in the driveway into my garage. Time to call my Harley-riding neighbor ... big dude.

Harbor Freight - Group Buy Update

Here is where we are at:

Price for lift will be $230 - $235. Nothing was said about any discounted shipping, so for now plan on the Harbor Freight website standard shipping of $9.99 (orders $100 or more) + $40.00 (truck item) for a total delivered price of $284.99 max (plus any applicable sales tax).

I'll update with any revised shipping info tomorrow.

Question

So if I were to drive to the local Harbor Freight store, shipping wouldn't be an issue, right?

Assuming that the orders that go thru "Coach Tom" (in the Camarillo facility) can be communicated to other locations, then I'd say yes - but right now I do not know.

I will ask tomorrow and post along with the shipping info. Hopefully HF can set up a specific promo code for us in their system. Then, everyone who wants one can call in their own order using the promo code.

If not, then I'll collect everyone's names and find out the best way to communicate the billing info to HF.

My only group buy experience was thru Raffy's company (direct billing), so if anyone has any suggestions to facilitate the billing process I'm all ears!

I don't mind collecting all the data from everyone and submitting one order if you all are comfortable in giving me your credit card info.

I HIGHLY recommend sticking with the promo code plan. That's how I handled the two group purchases that I organized, and it makes it clean.

Oh - I know - I love you guys (well, most of you) but I'm trying to avoid getting stuck in the middle.

It's still early here - but I'll be calling in a little while. Looks like we have 4 so far - the1mavin, DaveDragon (maybe), LodiHal, and Messenger13.

If anyone else is thinking about this please let me know sooner than later.

Thanks!

I'm in as well. Delivered or pick-up. Frankly, for $40, I'd prefer to have it delivered(drop shipped).

Great idea. Thanks for putting this together.

Update:

I have all of you down - and I left a voicemail w/ Tom this morning at 9:00 PST - still waiting to hear back...

We didn't have a lot of time yesterday to work out all of the details - but he's very flexible and I'm sure we'll be able to work something that's advantageous to all.

Thanks for all your patience and I'll update as soon as I hear from Tom.

Update - Bad News!!

Everyone -

There has been a slight misunderstanding which will probably affect all who have expressed interest so far - the additional 20% off is only good for pick-up at the Camarillo, CA facility :-(

Tom cannot extend the discount to other stores for local pick-up, nor can he ship nationwide.

I'm feeling a little silly and apologize for the false start, but we didn't discuss much yesterday. He asked me how many people I thought would be interested and I said about 10 - 20 and he said no problem.

So..... if there is anyone interested in picking one up at the Camarillo facility please let me know, otherwise I'm afraid this group buy is dead.

Again, my apologies -

Ted,

I would certainly be interested in this lift with an additional 20% off !! BTW, is it safe to assume that I wouldn't need tie-downs with this lift? Looks to me like parking her on her center stand should work. What do you think?

Get back to me on the price and if you are able to get the big discount.

Thanks,

Sorry about that.... I was interested but didn't read all the posts and now see that the item must be picked up in CA. That's a long drive from Michigan and the fuel costs would seriously cut into my savings!

But thanks for trying anyway.

I forgot to mention ... when I called my local Harbor Freight store, they said the price of the lift was $399. I said "Oh, my ... I just looked on the Harbor Freight web site and the price there was $299". The gal said "Print it out and bring it in". I did - paid $299 + tax, no extra shipping charge - and they kept the web site printout, too. Great lift for the price - about 1/3 of a Handy lift.

Bob -

That was actually part of the problem w/ the group buy. As Tom explained it, Harbor Freight runs Retail, Internet and Catalog as 3 separate businesses.

It's nice that your local retail store is honoring the internet price. In essence, that is what Tom is doing in Camarillo, plus an additional 20%.

California Option?

Since I run an express shipping company in California, is there a way to prepay and have one of my trucks pick it up in Camarillo? I can do the same for anyone in NorCal. I will have them all brought to my Sacramento Hub.

Group Buy Not Dead Yet!

Bob - I don't see why not - the local pickup option is still available. I'm not sure how many they currently have in stock, though.

And, for everyone else, Coach Tom did some more investigating today - he really felt bad about yesterday's outcome...the person he needs to speak with is out until Monday, so is still a chance for local pick-up.

So, if y'all can wait a few more days this may happen after all!

Anyone who is still considering this purchase please post your order.

Thanks!

Harbor Freight - Group Buy - Update

I should know by the end of the week what options are available.

I am being told now that since our quantities are around 12, they are negotiating directly with the buyer.

There is a good chance that all shipping charges will be waived, and local pickup available to everyone at their local store.

Bob (Tallyho) you can pick-up as many as you want in Camarillo - Tom currently has 2 or 3 in stock and can get more in - but it probably makes more sense to wait to see what shakes out.

Thanks again for all or your patience -
