Dragon closed for a few weeks

The TOD will be closed for at least a few weeks, there was a rockslide last night at MM10, you will be allowed to come in from the NC side and ride to the overlook, but that will be as far as you will get. You will not be allowed to come in from the Tennessee side on 129.

Check it out on www.tailofthedragon.com

Actually, this would be a great time to go ride it. Would be the same as a couple of years ago when the major slide closed the through road. No sightseer's, no trucks, just fun.

Keep checking with the TOD (tail of the dragon) website as Ron is real good about keeping things up to date.

OK AL I expect you to ride it several more times before STC to drive all the gravel off of it. I don't want to be slipping and sliding as that is Jean's new favorite road (next to the Cherohala).

Re: Dragon closed for a few weeks

I rode Wayah Road again last week. Most of the loose gravel has been pushed to the sides of the road so it should be a good ride for STC.

Re: Dragon closed for a few weeks

I rode on Wayah road again yesterday. Some loose gravel is back on it (I guess rain washed it back on it). At STC we'll need to be careful in some of the corners

Like John said earlier, you need to ride it more so you can sweep the gravel off of the road for us!

One thing I have noticed on the Wayah Road is the color of the asphalt makes it hard to see small amounts of sand or gravel. Thats why I have never run that road very hard.
