I Got The Baby Squirrel But Not Mama

I noticed a squirrel hauling nest materials to the gutter under my deck saturday morning. She (it turns out) had at least one baby somewhere up under my deck. I spent the better part of sat. morning cleaning out the gutter. It is only accessible from each end. Sunday I bought some wire mesh & installed it. I saw mama squirrel at dusk trying to get back in the gutter. She tried for over a half hour.

Last night I noticed a baby squirrel at the bottom of my down spout & mama squirrel was about 15' away in my Leland Cypress tree making so much noise her voice went hoarse. I think my dog got the baby squirrel almost out of the downspout. Here are some pic's of my temporary fix for now.

Don't have a gun ? I have an old Winchester Model 06 gallery gun that I use for varmnits..

Very quiet... And the most accurate gun I've ever shot... Once I shot a squirell out of a tree from inside the house thru an open window....

Get-er-done... Those squirells will do some serious damage....

Reminds me of a buddy who was in his bathroom one morning and spied a 12 point buck in his back yard. He grabbed his high powered rifle, quietly opened the bathroom window and sat on the throne for a great shot. He raised up until he could just sight the buck through the scope on the gun...and promptly blew out the side of his house.

Life happens...you control your reaction.

Hey, Mods! Can we change Dave's screen name to Squirrelman?!? Saddleman just doesn't seem to fit anymore, for some reason!

There's a Squirrelman on one of the VFR sites. 100% pro-squirrel, so be careful.
