Re: BMWMOA Forum Hacked

Well that is disappointing that I had to read it hear and not from BMWMOA.

Just logged in over there and nothing posted unless you dig a little.

Not so. When you go to the Forum page there is an alert on the header line above all the other thread headings. I agree it can be overlooked but it is there.

Guess you are technically correct, I logged into BMWMOA and then went to the forum. I would have expected something a little more in you face than what was there.

Also received an e-mail. They advise changing all accounts using the same password, which for me is dozens. How real do you think the risk is?

I do the same thing also. Really do not want to go and change them all but I like having one password for everything.

What can happen is lots of Spam to your email account, and an attempt to break into that also. Use your forum email to try to get additional information to be used to break into any other accounts you might have. (Ebay, paypal, facebook, investment accounts etc.)

The person/persons that did this made the list public so other hackers will have a try at your accounts. Those folks will try breaking into any email you have get control and use it to get access to financial accounts...and it just keeps getting worse.

Not to mention you will get lots of offers to invest in Nigeria and Viagra offers.

Re: BMWMOA Forum Hacked

For forums- I use the same password so I just went out and changed them JIC. But some people may do the same thing for Paypal, online banking, etc.

I just changed my password to something nice and simple- P-A-S-S-W-O-R-D. Ooopppsss!

Over on BMWMOA the onslaught has begun. A lot of new posts have infiltrated with crap postings. Pretty pervasive and scary how it is like an invasion. It has almost makes the site worthless to visit.

I hardly ever go there. I find that this site and the K1600 answer all of my questions and inform me of what I want to know.
