Package shipping time, Canada to USA

Hi all,
Does anyone have any ideas on how long it should take to get a package from Quebec to northern Illinois via the postal service. Package was shipped on December 12th and is small machine parts that weigh less than 3 lbs. Not bike related but snow blower related.

Any guesses on how it takes to get through customs?

TIA

Merry Christmas

Roy

From north Carolina to Toronto is taking 10 days now.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying " I'll try again tomorrow".

Re: Package shipping time, Canada to USA

I have ordered a couple things from the north-land. Their postal service is much slower than ours. Do not worry unless you go past a month. Two to three weeks is about right in my experience.

Thanks guys, first time that I have ever knowingly purchased an item that was coming from Canada.

Hopefully get the parts before the snow gets to deep.

I buy Honda Parts from Canada & it has only taken about 1 1/2 weeks to get here in Texas. I have bought 3 or 4 times over the last 6 months.

Re: Package shipping time, Canada to USA

If we have packages to mail to friends in the US, we take a short drive to Massena NY and mail it from there. Its cheaper and faster in the US.

I mailed a few Christmas cards to my daughter in Vancouver and it took 15 days!!
We mailed Christmas cards on Sat in Massena and one already got to WV yesterday.

I don't really know why the long lead times in Canada, but if you drop in to a Canada Post office you will see why!!

Re: Package shipping time, Canada to USA

I had one this fall and it took three weeks. I prefer to pop over to Ogdensberg, NY to the UPS Store, it's worth the hr drive - besides there is cheap gas and chicken

Re: Package shipping time, Canada to USA

I think you will find that the majority of the delays are caused by 'Customs' I just had a parcel from Beemerboneyard that took 3 weeks, but 6 days it spent in Canada Customs waiting for clearance 7 so they can collect GST...
I am wondering how cost effective that process is on small $200 item is!
