Find a great American from the Vietnam Wall

This is simply amazing; sad, but amazing! Below is a link to the Vietnam virtual Wall where you can search by state and city.

This is really sobering. Click on the link BELOW and find the

city you went to high school and look at the names.

Click on the name and it will give details FOR THAT PERSON

Re: Find a great American from the Vietnam Wall

I looked up a buddy I went to school with. It shows he died from ground fire (he steped on a land mine) Thanks for the link Lynn.

Re: Find a great American from the Vietnam Wall

Thanks for sending the link.

I graduated in 1969 and had many classmates either drop out of high school to enlist or went in right after high school. I was surprised that 15 died there. A very good friend dropped out of high school before the end of our senior year and enlisted in the Marines. He served a tour, but had a lot of problems after his enlistment was over. Ended up committing suicide several years after he returned.

I've made several skydives carrying a flag into the moving Memorial wall and it is quite an experience. I have yet to not get emotional after each landing after meeting families of vets that did not come home..

Re: Find a great American from the Vietnam Wall

I appreciate the link. Looked up all five guys I knew in H.S. who died over there. One who made it through, a Warrant Officer, loved to fly. He got his fixed wing pilot license while in High School. He was a copter pilot (gun ship I believe it was called) in Viet Nam and loved it. Did three or four tours, and was shot down twice, injuring his back severely. He had been flying med evac copters for a number of years as a civilian. I heard his back got so bad he finally had to give up flying. He took his own life shortly thereafter (about four years ago). He had always said if he couldn't fly, he had no reason to live. He was a hell of a guy. Sad.

Re: Find a great American from the Vietnam Wall

Thanks for the link. I've been to the wall in D.C. as well as the traveling ones. Memories, both good & bad come back. Said hello to a dozen & a half that did not make it back alive, some classmates, some I served with.
