Any TV repairmen here.. ?

Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR4

Won't turn on after thunderstorm...
no lights, nothing.

I checked the fuse on the power supply... was`Good.

So I ordered and installed a NEW power supply.... still dead.

Anything else I can check before biting the bullet and having a Sony technician come to the house and bend me over?

thanks.

Re: Any TV repairmen here.. ?

It might have got popped by lightning. if it did , hard telling what ...if anything it did to your TV. I was working in a friends BMW Motorcycle repair shop one day...30 years ago... When a storm came up. I had the axle out of a small camper trailer that you pulled with a motorcycle on a bike lift. I had been working on putting brakes on the axle. I had most of it on , & was finishing the wires for the brake magnets. When POW, I had the satering iron in one hand & one hand on the bike lift. I got a big poke, & it blow up my friends garage door openers, radio, microwave, TV,...ECT..

If I'm remembering it right, there's a web site called Fixya.com
I've been able to repair two big screen tv's with advise from that site.

Claim it on your insurance and pay the deductible.

My first, and last TV repair experience took place shortly after I had taken some electronics training. Not TV related but I was young and dumb enough to tackle anything.

Took off the back, unplugged it, reached in with a screwdriver and got zapped, big time. It went to the TV repair shop and I've never taken the back off another one.

Learned off of the first one.
