I've got good taste in shotguns - so does the IRS

I have owned a Remington 870 pump shotgun for about - oh - 20 years or so. It's my number one "go to" in case - heaven forbid - trouble arrives at my doorstep. Mine is about as plain jane as they come save for the LED flashlight hung off the bottom of the barrel.

According to Acquiring Shotguns - Federal Business Opportunities: Opportunities the IRS is also interested in this very capable and inexpensive weapon...

"The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) intends to purchase sixty Remington Model 870 Police RAMAC #24587 12 gauge pump-action shotguns for the Criminal Investigation Division. The Remington parkerized shotguns, with fourteen inch barrel, modified choke, Wilson Combat Ghost Ring rear sight and XS4 Contour Bead front sight, Knoxx Reduced Recoil Adjustable Stock, and Speedfeed ribbed black forend, are designated as the only shotguns authorized for IRS duty based on compatibility with IRS existing shotgun inventory, certified armorer and combat training and protocol, maintenance, and parts."

Nah, I think they're just interested in pheasant hunting!

Let's see here:

1. We have heavily armed Federal Police (Border Patrol) manning checkpoints up to 100 miles from the border.

2. We have nerds arming themselves. Remember Charles Martin Smith as the shotgun toting accountant, Oscar Wallace, from the movie The Untouchables?

3. We have the guy I voted for raising taxes (surprise, surprise) on the rich (who will simply retire or move their assets off shore) to attempt to fund a bloated, corrupt government that no one really wants, Democrat OR Republican...

I see a "pattern" developing - and it is a nice "grouping" !

14" barrel???

I guess when they are in your home collecting your goods, the short barrel makes it easier to chase you around the doorways.

Yep, a much faster "swing" in close quarter combat.

I dunno about that now now..............

If I were up to no good and heard the action of a shotgun being cycled, well those of us having trained in the combat arms would know the recommended immediate action.

Don't really think most of us are in a combat situation, just trying to prevent an altercation. One in the chamber, in my opinion, would be enough to discourage most people.

One?

Think I would be due a tactical reload.

Firearms are not toys, they are tools and playing games with them all too often results in tragic results.

Re: I've got good taste in shotguns - so does the IRS

If someone is physically inside my house at night I'm probably just going to shoot and kill the son of a bitch anyway... We've had enough home invasions south of here lately to justify it, although I may have some 'splainin to do, but nothing a good defense lawyer can't cope with.

My Dad's advice (former FBI agent) was to make SURE you kill them, wounding is not an option. He only pulled his weapon from his holster TWICE in 25 years of service (regardless of all the shoot 'em stuff you see on TV) and his instructions were shoot to kill, period.

100 miles from the border? Ron, your shit is a lil off..... Years ago, when we just had a fake "drug" war, and waayyyy before we had a fake "terror" war, I saw the border patrol pulling over step-side cargo vans NORTH of Ventura, Kommyfornia.

Now, being the complete MORON that I am , I couldn't figure out what their PC was for stopping EVERY cargo van, pulling EVERY driver out and searching them--OVER 200 miles from the border?! BUT, then I got my shit straight: the fed's DO NOT need PC! DUH!!
