Given the "Target Fixation" promotion at BMW on 2009 R1200GS and GSAs, maybe he'll end up with one like Randy's that he coveted so much at Midway.

Re: The Boss's missing GW 1800 ?

No news on the stolen bike, and no news from the insurance either. I guess after another week I can start pushing the insurance.

SInce on the same weekend our burger suffered an engine failure (not much chance to repair that economically) and I am out of a wing we will have the pleasure of buying 2 bikes. Thats gonna be a very expensive month!

Currently we are looking at an F800GS for me and either a F650GS or an F800ST for Karen. Either way, by the time we add all the needed 'stuff' like side bags, top cases, ... its going to be rather expensive. As far as the panniers and the top case go I currently lean towards the Caribou cases, especially since they now have a top loading one.

Put a Rick Mayer seat on those puppies and we are good to go.

Wow, Andy, I totally missed the post that your brand new (to you) wing went on the lam. Seems like insurance should give you a good enough settlement to get a used LT and an F800ST for Karen. But a matching set of GS & ST would be nice. Good luck.

I had about 22500 miles on the Burger, every oil change done, and as to what failed I can;t say exactly. All I know is that the engine seized up and that I had to trailer it home. From there the shop that usually does my work (and knows they can't sell me anything new) informed me that if they can;t find an engine very cheaply it would cost more than $2000 to repair the engine. On a bike with a book value of $4300 that pretty much spells doom.

In addition it will give me the excuse to buy two bikes and I know that Karen has a nice new bike with warranty and I have nothing to worry.

Holy shit! ONLY 22,500 miles?! I'm shocked....I was seriously considering ANOTHER Burgy, for my next bike. Re-thinking that.....V Strom 650 ABS?

So sorry, Andy. Wishing you better luck next time!
