Interesting world we live in

Ken, Don't get all worldly on me. This is not a jab at Canada. I really like them and glad they are our neighbor. If anything this has American written all over it. This kind of thing is one of the reasons most modern countries are going broke.

Well I'll take a jab at Canada--except this is the kind of tom-foolery Kommyfornia is usually known for!

Maybe we need to all just run around in these things

But seriously, I understand that nut allergies can be extreme, and the number of people with said allergies is increasing for some reason, but does one have to hide in the airplane lavatory?

What about people with sensitivities to strong perfumes and makeups or other scents? I get a headache when I sit near a heavy smoker, or a blue-haired lady who overdoes the Eau de Lavender. Maybe I need to demand a special section on an airplane.

Re: Interesting world we live in

Well, heck, of course, when your flooded with complaints about nuts (2 in 3 years) you have to re-think the whole airplane scenario. I think there should be protective zones for those who are allergic to perfume, too. And while we're at it how the heck are we going to protect those allergic to cat dander, disinfectants, having to pay for luggage, cancelled flights, and long security lines? This is a great idea. We need more thinking like this to make the world a better, safer place for everyone. You just have to wonder why rules like this took so long to come up with. What were the airlines thinking all these years?

Re: Interesting world we live in

Ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. Doing all that after only 2 complaints, and the reactions of the complainers (it least as written) tells me that they are a little more whacky than just having nut allergies. And how is a nut free zone going to help if the "nut essence" is "aerosolized" into the cabin via the air filtration system? People need to take care of themselves for things like this, a little personal responsibility and management is what's called for, not this stupid kind of crap.

Re: Interesting world we live in

It is indeed a nutty world. Air Canada haven't given out "nuts" on its flights for ages, at least not on any flights that I have been on...at least not free packages, maybe they had some nuts for sale...$5.00 for a 2 oz. package or some other rediculous price like that. All they have given out"free" for the past couple of years is some kind of crapy spicy mixture that tastes so bad nobody will eat them, guess they can just keep giving out the packages over and over as most of them are picked up unopened. I hate flying Air Canada, but since we don't have much else, we don't have a choice, guess that is why they do whatever they want without a thought to customer service.
