And it flies! What a concept.

So what us the future application of this? I mean, I really don't want to fly in a large version of this - imagine how dizzy you would get!

Surveillance. Imagine if they had software that could decode the spinning video signal, thus giving you a clear 360 view of whatever you were flying through or over. Make it a little quieter and with a smaller control unit and it could be carried by soldiers, swat teams, rescue workers, riders who want to see if there really is a cop over that next rise or behind that billboard . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Oooh, I like the way this guy thinks... at least in this regard!

That sounds like the little companion/surveillance unit that was part of the AMEE robot in "Red Planet".

Re: Single winged aircraft!

I remember reading about the guy who drove a Bimmer from Manhattan to the Santa Monica Pier in just over 31 hours. Besides the usual array of GPS, radar and laser jammers, CB, police scanners, night vision cameras, gyro-stabilized binoculars, and a co-pilot whose sole job was to look ahead for cops, this guy had the ultimate technology - a spotter plane.

When I read that I exclaimed "That's what I need - a spotter plane!" My wife just rolled her eyes at me . . .
