Apartment broken into

Came home from work last night to find that the door of my apartment was forced open. They took everything that had some value and could be carried out. In daylight, at a unit that is in plain sight.

And this is not the ghetto, but an upscale complex in a nice suburb. Very disheartening when you cant feel safe were you live. Now back to dealing with the logistics of getting life back to normal.

A real bummer. I hope that what was taken is at least replaceable. The worst part is not knowing what has gone.

Holy Cow, Wolfgang! Sorry that happened to ya. Hopefully insurance and the police will help you get your life back to normal. You need some riding therapy. We'll see you tomorrow still, right?

Yes, that is actually one more reason to go and air my brains out! The bastartds even took some riding gear that I had cleaned and than hung up in the guest room closet. But I have enough other stuff in the garage.

See you over lunch!

Re: Apartment broken into

Sorry to hear that. It's not a good feeling. Had a car stolen and stripped once and a couple other ones broken into.

Hope they dusted for fingerprints and can catch them.

Look on Craigslist and eBay to see if some of the stuff pops up there.

Re: Apartment broken into

that really sucks. We had our home robbed a couple months ago and the crack heads that they caught would not or were to brain fried to admit to ours. They were charged with 12 others but since none of our stuff was recovered or located, (mostly my wifes jewelry which she has been diligent about replacing :-() we are just out. Keep regular contact with the police so they continue to follow up.

Re: Apartment broken into

Wolfgang, I find it almost impossible to believe apartments as nice as yours, in an area as nice as yours, in a town like The Woodlands would have a problem like this, but then again I worked the streets long enough to know it doesn't matter. Still though....in broad daylight...in THAT apartment complex. Hard to believe no one saw anything???

Really makes you wonder it it was someone who lived in the complex and knew when you were away.

I guess you never know. I am a little too trusting most of the time because of where I live and my car is unlocked and the key is in the bike with the garage door up from morning till bedtime.

Re: Apartment broken into

Couple of months ago had my work trailer broken into, got about 6k worth of tools and equipment.

Had the serial number to the TIG welder handy for the cops.

They got it all back.

Free donuts for them any time I see one of Cleveland County's finest, well until they hit me with a speeding ticket.

Seriously, serial numbers is what will help the most for getting your stuff back and the perps in jail.

So very sorry, Wolfgang! That really sucks. It was someone local that knows your patterns. Invest in a security system, as you rebuild.

+1 on the security system. Sometimes all it takes is the red infra camera glow to ward off intruders. After I spent @ $3500 on a surveillance system, the scum bags that visited a next door "neighbor" decided to set up shop elsewhere.

Angry Re: Apartment broken into

Damn, that really messes with your life. We got an alarm system AFTER our house was broken into during the day.
Never recovered anything. But we were not as "cleaned out" as you were.
Hope you at least enjoyed the Saturday ride.

$3,500?! WOW! That video quality must have been amazing! Can you imagine how those "Eagle Scouts" A/H's must have puckered--especially if you had a motorized cam?

Yes, excellent video clarity. Audio is fair. And I did want the motorized auto focus cam, but couldn't let go of the cash.

I started with $500 Costco, but I couldn't get the coverage I needed. I can burn DVD's, my favorite is when an ex-girlfriend visited the "new daddy" next door. She brought along a #2 driver to fix the glass on his car. I'd post it here, if I knew how.
