Calling IT Gurus

I've notice this symbol (RSS) on a number of sites.

How does it work?

I just know someone is going to chime in.... but in a very simple nutshell, imagine the scene.......

Your home page has a feed from all of these other sites (RSS) with their latest head lines, so rather than go to each site in turn to see what is happening, you just look in one place and get info from all over. Something catches your eye, and you clickity click, and over you go to that site.

I feed latest Virus/Malware info into my homepage at work, saves me going off to Sophos and looking.

Mike,
I would assume then that an individual would have to establish or use an existing personal home page site to receive this info?

Re: Calling IT Gurus

Depends on which browser you use. Safari and Opera have built in readers, some email clients also have them. If you google RSS readers you will get lots of hits.

Re: Calling IT Gurus

There are some email clients that now have RSS feeds as well. I think Thunderbird does and I know the Mac email client does.
