Amway ?

Anybody have some insight? I know someone who want to get into Amway as a IBO. I've read some pretty bad things about it though.

Re: Amway ?

I was in Amway in the early 70's and actually learned a lot from the experience. Lots of positive motivation books and tapes that I still cherish.

I am sure that a lot has changed since my early days and my reason for leaving after about a year was because of the amount of religion that was injected by my upline. Like a lot of things, there is good and bad and it's up to the individual to decipher the difference and learn from it. Amway is network marketing / relationship selling and also about 90% wholesale consumers.

15 years ago I got involved with another network marketing company ( primary product lowers cholesterol naturally) and am still active with it today. There are good ones and bad. Do an Internet search and you will come with lots of + and - on them all. It's really up to the individual.

Lots of money can be made, but the majority don't make very much and use the company to get their products wholesale.

Re: Amway ?

My wife at the time and I were in Amway in the early 80's. Our experience mirrored Dan's. Except I'm not involved with any such businesses now. Do your research and look at what else is out there. The Amway products are top of the line quality wise.

Re: Amway ?

My experience with Amway was that it is NOT about selling quality products (the products are of very good quality). It is about getting as many people selling downline from you as possible, in order to make any money.

Re: Amway ?

Amway, is like the elephant and the 3 blind guys. Each sub organization is slightly different. My experience while positive (+1 on the motivational items) was far more involving than I had time to dedicate. So I am now in the category Dan talked about. I'm still an IBO so I can get the products on my terms, but don't have time to build and maintain a network.

It is not get rich quick., has never been get rich quick, and never will be get rich quick. What it is, is a fun entrepreneurial opportunity for those who like to sell or want to build large networks of people.

Whoever wants to get started should go to a few meetings first to assess the organization and if it doesn't fit the need, find another sponsor. Don't let people who don't pay your bills, vote on what opportunities you choose or reject.
