Google Earth

Okay, I might be the last guy who has taken a hard look at this application, but I'm now addicted to it.

I popped an extra $20 for the "plus" version which allows me to connect my Garmin GPS to upload routes, tracks, and waypoints into Google Earth. You also get the option of uploading Garmin Mapsource files (MPS or GPX formats). I've now put in my planned trip for this summer into Google Earth and used the "tour" feature to take me along the route. The 3-D aspect view is awesome. You can see whether Road-A is more fun than Road-B before you head out to the unknown. Really cool stuff!

Jefe,
Unfortunately, at the moment, it is only really "Google America".

Um, not really. I zoomed in on several locations around the world, including Moscow, Tokyo, and Sydney and got some great detail. I just zoomed in on the Himalayas and got a nice 3-d view of Everest and surrounding mountains. So, I'm not sure what you mean it's "Google America".

I started using Google Earth so I can find the closest Starbucks in cities I have never been to. Starbucks is not considered a point of interest even in the 2720.

But *$$ is listed in the integrated GPS on the new Gold Wings. Two Wheel Tuesday did a segment on that feature and it looked pretty cool. I hear there's a shortcut button to find the nearest DQ as well.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Now that's sweet. It finally works on OSX now. Thanks, Jeff.

If you type in STAR in the find section for restaurants it will pull up Starbucks on the 2610. I use it al the time when traveling.

I thought DQ's were already hard coded into the Gold Wing steering and braking systems.

Thanks for spending $20 more of my money JEFF!!!

Last week, a friend of mine was showing me Google Local on his cell phone. A pretty cool (and free?) alternative to those with no GPS, but do have an internet-enabled cell.

Jefe,
Forked out my $20 for the Plus version, and can't see any difference in resolution and quality.
Should I ?.
Major cities and most of Northern Europe are pretty well defined, but as far as the rest of the world goes, it is not up to the U.S A. defintions.
