Thumbs up Speed and DMG Cease Recto-Cranial Inversion

During the coverage for World Superbike from Miller this weekend, Speed Channel announced that they will be dropping the Satuday night AMA Pro Road racing coverage, where you get to watch AMA road races up to 4 weeks after the happen. Happily they will move back to same day delayed coverage starting with the round at Laguna Seca and will continue with that format for the rest of the season.

All I can say is... About Damned Time!!!

I guess I wasn't alone in the email writing campaign to Speed and DMG telling them how useless this type of coverage was and how much it devalued and marginalized American professional roadracing. This was a stupid idea from its inception IMHO, and I'm happy to see they finally see things the right way, which is my way.

Working on it. Also gonna get them to take the 15 pound weight penalty off the Buells, just because.

Seriously who would have thought we would see the day that a Buell in professional road racing would get a weight penalty because it was deemed faster than a Japanese 4 cylinder sportbike??? Yes, there are displacement allowances, but come on, It's a friggin' Buell!! I think that kinda rocks.

Nope, they raised the minimum dry weight of the bike by 15 pounds so they have to add ballast somewhere to meet the requirement. Next thing you know the DMG yokels will make them all be carburated and run dual shocks on the back with skinny tires. Hmmmm.... smells like... NASCAR!

Please...they had to allow it double the displacement of the Japanese 4's, double, just to get the thing even remotely competetive. That is the Buell we all know and love.

True, true. I think they're testing more on horsepower than displacement. It was after the dyno test after the Fontana races that they determined it needed the added weight to level the field. Still, I think the fact that this series has 4-5 different brands in the top 5 on a regular basis is pretty cool. I think World SuperSport and Daytona Sportbike are the two most competitive road racing series out there this season; races have been close and no predictable winners all year.
