On The Way To $1.50/gallon Gasoline...

The price of a gallon of premium unleaded is $1.92 today in Rapid City, SD.

Regular unleaded is at $1.69.

What are prices in your part of the woods?

Re: On The Way To $1.50/gallon Gasoline...

A barrel of oil is now trading at $55, down from a high of $142 earlier this summer. I've heard that if it drops down below $50/barrel, then the oil companies will be applying for bailout funds . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Lowest I've seen for unleaded was a BP station @ $2.119/gal. here in the western suburbs of Chicago. Three weeks ago I found it @ $1.98 in St. Joseph, MI. Need to spend more time at the lake.

Re: On The Way To $1.50/gallon Gasoline...

I also saw today (in Rapid City, SD) a convenience store selling Exxon branded gasoline advertising unleaded regular for $1.38/gal if purchased with an Exxon Mastercard. Apparantly, it is a promotional deal Exxon has developed with Citibank that rebates 30 cents per gallon for gasoline purchases made at Exxon/Mobil stations for a period of 60 days after issuance of an Exxon-sponsored Mastercard to the applicant. The per gallon rebate drops to 15 cents per gallon after the 60 day loss-leader perion has expired.

CCR 2009 (slated for Rapid City) should be a relatively inexpensive vacation for all attendees. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see gasoline touch $1.25 to $1.30 per gallon by mid summer if the economy doesn't stabilize and Saudi Crude falls to $40-$43 per barrel.

What are ye cribbing about. Over here in southern Ireland we are paying €1.09 per lt. and there is approx of 4 lt's in your gallon. It was over €1.30 during the summer.

It still spins my head!

$2.00 to $4.00 and back to $2.00 a gallon.

All of the talking heads claiming the price of crude goes from $50 to $150 because demand exceeds supply.

I wonder if the price of our tires will ever drop by 50%?

Not being schooled in Irish vernacular, I do not know the meaning of "cribbing"; I surmise it is akin to "complaining". None of us are complaining about the drop in the price of gasoline, we're just very skeptical regarding the number of years or months it will take for fuel to again skyrocket. We are just enjoying the present situation and hoping it doesn't take a turn for the worse anytime soon.

Enjoy it while you can. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. They are cutting production to create demand again.

Re: On The Way To $1.50/gallon Gasoline...

It really only shows you that the price of oil was driven up by the stockmarket..

Since that's all gone blewie the price of our gas has fallen...

It's speculation man... Can't believe the demand has fallen that much.

I say let's get things back to the pre 1st oil boom prices... I can live with .35c a gallon again...

Won't Go Back Again!

$1.67 for regular unleaded here in Riverton, Utah (near Salt Lake).

I wonder if folks in general learned from the $4+ per gallon prices just a few months ago, and changed their buying-driving habits? I hope so.

I did, rode my bikes almost exclusively all spring, summer & fall, 45-55 mpg time and time again, and I check & record it accurately each fill-up! And when I did need to drive a four-wheeler, I tried to take my 30 mpg Miata instead of the 14 mpg pick-up truck as much as possible, which means most of the time. Mentally, I flipped off the $4 gas signs and stations as I rode by. Also, other than filling up the bikes, I only bought 5 or 10 gallons at a time for the truck, just enough to complete the rare trips I needed it for. Finally, I will not buy another heavy, high consumption vehicle.

I'm sure I used a fair amount less gasoline this year, and I WILL NOT GO BACK TO MY OLD DRIVING-BUYING HABITS, even if gasoline prices fall to $1.50 or lower!

I refuse to consume like I did in the old days, and would love to see Big Oil and the middle east despots completely awash in the stuff!

According to a local news report within the last day or so, apparently not. Several months ago there was a waiting list to get a Toyota Prius and sales of large SUV's, etc. where in the tank. Now there is an abundance of Prius's (sp?) sitting on the lots and the sales of SUV's are on the rise.

Yeah, Red, I'm with yah, bro! I had a 17-18 MPG Ranger with a 4L V-6. Talk about a gas guzzler! My solution was to buy a GMC 2500 diesel. Even though it weighs almost double the Ranger, I get 22 MPG. Now THAT is American engineering at it's best! But, I still drive the Insight (60 MPG) as the daily driver.
