Sirius XM merger fallout, favorite channels gone

It's been a couple of days now since the reshuffling of lineups on Sirius and XM, and I'm still in mourning at the loss of my favorite channel. Disorder on Sirius was the best radio I had heard in years. It was Free Form radio and community at it's best. Where else could you hear a Maria Callas Aria followed by the Ramones, then followed by by a Johnny Cash hip hop remix? Certainly not on the "Loft," the station they replaced it with. It was a great station for work that would eventually play everyone's favorite kind of music.

I know the XM side lost more channels than the Sirius side, did anyone else lose their favorite channels? For me the merger has turned very bad.

I left Sirius, at the expense of new radios, because I can't stand that blabbing bitch, Dusty Street, on classic rock. Guess who's now on XM classic rock?

Yeah , the mix channel WAS killer. Now there is no way to vote with your wallet.

What I dislike is all the "ONE BAND " channels. I like ACDC, Springstein, Led Zeppelin but not one song after another all day long. Every time I find a channel I like they change it to a one band channel. Altho the merger did bring some good new music to Sirius

Re: Sirius XM merger fallout, favorite channels gone

You mean there are other channels on Sirius that Howard Stern and Bubba the Love Sponge? No Way??!!??

My wife and I really liked the New Country channel but that was switched to The Highway. The songs are the same but the DJ's are more annoying. New Country's segue ways were more polished then these idiots. FWIW, they should just play the damned music!

As for the one band channels, I like them. It's only a month or so (The ACDC channel at least).

I was really considering getting the best of XM package for my radio but I noticed that they haven't worked out a deal with MLB to allow baseball on the Sirius channels. I know, there is no baseball NOW but come the Spring, I want to hear my Mets win all season long and then blow it the last month/week/day of the season.

Hey, what can I say, I'm a glutton for punishment. Remember, I ride a BMW with a ticking time bomb as a final drive.

It isn't satellite - but it's also free on the Internet - unless you feel like contributing a few pesos:

For my money (I donate every year) I listen to KXCI.org. Community based with no ads, no spam and gasp: real live DJ's. About as eclectic as you can get.

Real radio for real people: www.kxci.org

I like the addition of 40's on 4, since we lost swingtown about 2-3 years ago.
I too would like to listen to my Braves harken back to the 80's (continuous loss) and await MLB. BUT, I'm told I would have to buy new equipment.

On the net, try a local (sort of to me at least) pbs station. It's the best radio n the "air" to me 88.7 WNCW in Spindale NC. wncw.org and you can listen for free. Very eclectic, Billy Holiday, followed by Frank Zappa, Hank III, Frank Sinatra, the real beauty is you never know what might be next. THE best station.

Actually, it seems like a lot of folks are. They are choosing not to subscribe to either one. This week Sirius/XM reported 4.88 Billion in losses for the 3Q.

hehehe, well I'd rather buy ya lunch sometime!

I'm on a roll today, next is my ins company to raise my deductibles, plus I've dropped several magazine subscriptions as well,

I'll calm down in a few days, and hopefully the few things that got me on a roll will settle down quickly! like the price of ammo! ARGHHHHHH, I'm trying to decide whether or not to spending the 300 to keep my shooting club membership with the price of ammo going out of site

I WILL NOT renew when my shit expires, shortly. In this economy, there's no way I can justify $13 a month for something that's worth about $6!

I agree with the price that's why when my old radio went out I got the newest one with the "Ala Cart" feature. You pick up to 50 channels for $6.95 a month. I also got a second car kit so I can use the same head unit in my truck or on my bike. My wifes car has Sirius built in and her subscription is only $8.95 month sense it's the second on your account.

Wow you are less than us ya big cheapy, (big grin)

We just aren't using the Sirius, heck I hardly used it on my LT when it was all hooked up, and it does save about 20 bucks a month for both units. As of now we dropped 65 bucks a month in residual spending we haven't used. I'm shooting for 5k a year in excess spending.

That should be a easy goal, between silly stuff, eating out, excess rentals, movies, paid subscriptions, like sat radio, magazines, clubs of some sort, probably even drop the MOA, heck I don't even know where the last few magazines are (come to think of it maybe I should find them and remind myself whether or not I really enjoy them), I plan on more by doing more stuff ourselves that we have been paying for, such as maintenances on cars, bikes, the house. We just got carried away for a while now and things are changing we better change with them.

WOW! I have heard ZERO about any such option. Thanks, Steve.

After I FINALLY get done paying my FAIR share of taxes , THEN replace that $700 vest I lost ("Sayre fire"), I will look into a new receiver with that capability. That WOULD be worth $7 smacks a month!

They should drop Stern and the others anyway. I went with Sirius because he was the lesser of the two evils (ellen the degenerate) was on the other station.

If she pops up on the merger, bye bye sat radio and bye bye subsciption X 2.
