Merry Christmas! to a soldier...

Thanks to a watchful eye I was informed this is a bogus option... to send unsolicited mail to soldiers.

So much for being a 'fear monger'.. =)

Anyway, I am researching "valid" options.... the links provided below may offer other charitable choices or programs, none of which I can vouchsafe.

If you have a Veteran's hospital or trauma unit nearby, consider going... and be prepared.... you will be changed.

Though the sentiment is a good one, it will not work:

Well, that's interesting. I did not even consider "snopes" ... I will research further as "snopes" is not the "authority".

Re: Merry Christmas! to a soldier...

That's a good link, Ray. Not only does it show Walter Reed's reasoning in denying such random mailings (safety, of course) but it talks about an alternative mail-in program that was hosted via the Red Cross when the original email was circulated last year. It also gives some other suggested charities that folks can donate to. I wonder if the Red Cross is hosting a similar program this year?

This holiday season is going to be tough on everyone, so the suggestion of donating even a small amount of money to a worthwhile charity in lieu of a printed card is a good one. Military charities are a fine choice, but there are literally hundreds of worthy charities that folks can donate to. Even a few $$ can add up if enough caring people contribute.

Heck, just look at what we're able to do each year at CCR with only 600 folks.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Although Snopes is not the ultimate authority, generally they are fairly accurate on such things.

Please do post what you find. This is still a worthwhile cause.
