What's wrong with people?

Some folks just don't have a sense of humor anymore!

So I go to early vote this morning and figure I might as well bring doughnuts to break the ice. I find the end of the line (been running about 2 hours long around here), set down my coffee and start offering up the goodies.

A few people look in the box and politely say "no thanks". One guy grabs one like he hasn't seen a meal and a couple younger guys look at the box and say "Yeah man, I'll take one of these!". But....A few folks take a peak, step back and look at me like I just shot their dog! WTH! Just because half the box was powdered and the other half chocolate covered?

Geeez, what did I do?

Don't know.....I finally had to hand them off to one guy and tell him to pass 'em up the line. Guess folks just don't like doughnuts anymore.

It did break the ice though!

I must admit, I'm impressed.

And to think of all the crap I take for the little piddly things I've said in this forum.

Smile Re: What's wrong with people?

The times have changed. People are always figuring there's an angle and are no longer trusting... and sometimes for good reason. Judging by the size of people today, I know darn well that they aren't on diets so that argument doesn't hold water. It seems to me that more people are less outgoing and friendly toward strangers. I had an unusual experience this morning filling up the bike at a gas station. I was on the bike pumping gas and a female LEO walked closely in front of the bike and I said "Hi" to her... twice... just ignored me totally. I've NEVER been ignored by a LEO and believe me, there have been many times I wish I HAD been. Keep up the random acts of kindness. It's appreciated.

Maybe it is the quantity of "piddly" things you say.

Today's headline: "I may have been the victim of a REVERSE SCAM!!!"

and now you are lamenting that you get picked on around here.

Dave, it's very important that your selection of donuts be reflective and representative of the community, as a whole. The selection of just powdered and chocolate was way short of being properly PC. Not a major issue, but let this be a lesson to you. (Don't ask how I know.)

Have a nice day!

Jim, thank you for your ATTEMPTED kindness. BUT, you have to know WHO, in uniform, that you are trying to say hi to. Let's put it this way: if other police officers don't even say hi to most female officers....well you get my drift.

Now, let me ask you: when you see that same officer, out on the street, getting her ass kicked, what are you gonna do? Now you know why I say HI to everyone!

Re: What's wrong with people?

A female sergeant with the Sheriff's Office here, had a picture on her desk of a ruffed-up cat. Caption: "I have PMS and a handgun. Any questions?"

She was red-headed and had the same warm, fuzzy disposition of my ex-wife and all the charm of a pitbill on crack. If there were someone to "wade" into a problem with, however, she was one I'd want as backup.

This thread has definitely taken a turn for the worse. I like it.

Re: What's wrong with people?

We had a guy in the shop who always went for the Boston Cream anytime someone brought in doughnuts. He used to run the rednecks out of the breakroom by waggling around his cream filling coated tongue. More disturbing than funny; no one laughed at it quite as hard as he did.

You should also have had a few delicacies loaded up with NUTS just to complement the psyche of many citizen voters; it would be interesting too witness the takers of those offerings.
