I am SO sick of it

Of political threads of either fraction that is.

If you REALLY believe you'd swing only one vote by posting pro or contra either of the clowns running for president, I'd like to talk to you. I have this bridge in New York which is still for sale despite the good opportunity it is.

Sure!

If you stupid enough to accept my ridiculous terms (I'm going to triple your interest rate after 6 months. I'll be stupid enough to extend that loan to you. (Well knowing you can't possibly pay me back)

Subject: Brooklyn Bridge

This bridge it was my son`s favrit , my son died in Iraq ( 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division) Bush needs to tell me why !

The price is only $500 ( these are the delivery fees) all i want is to find the right person.. that person who`ll love and take care of this bridge in the same way he did...

I'd like to make a person very happy and to light a candle for my son once in a while....

the bridge has been meticulously maintained by my the road crew ,
is in excellent condition , has never been wrecked or damaged
Email me back if you are interested,

Walbert Louis

I have tried to set an example by staying out of the threads; all of the Moderators and Administrators know how I feel about participation in these threads. There are many things I see posted, from differing political perspectives, that really deserve a response, but I choose to refrain.

That said all of the people who help to run this site are unpaid volunteers who work diligently at technical operation, organization of content and appropriateness of content (within site guidelines). The reality is that they are first and foremost participating members of this website and I cannot and will not ask them to post within different standards than the community as a whole. If you feel that any member of this community (including Administrators and Moderators) are violating site guidelines please do not hesitate to let me know.

Randy, there's no violation at all. I just find it simply HILARIOUS!!! (hence the careful choice of me emoticon)

I can't help but wonder though if messenger13 had as much involvement in the political threads, and/or started as many political threads as some members ... surely by now I would be receiving PMs, phone calls, emails from various Moderators and Administrators telling me to stop . . . "or else".

Don't mean to ruffle any feathers. I'll go back to laughing silently at all the new political posts that are sure to keep on acomin' until well into next Spring.

Joe, you are always dancing around the campfire, so you are certainly going to get more heat

Personally I find political threads pretty funny as well. It seems that the more impassioned the response, the more likely it is to contain misstatements, half truths, misrepresentations or lies.

Re: I am SO sick of it

This is really interesting. Even this thread starts to deterioate and wander off into regurgitated politics.

I mean I wouldn't have such a problem with it if folks would at least have their own ideas instead of regurgitating that dead horse that the media put in front of them to eat.

This mindless repeating of 'facts' they don't know is what gets to me.

Folks: If you want to say something, then say something because you have something to say, not because you have to say SOMETHING.

Choice: Gordon Brown leading the way with his financial ideas or Palin after 'that' interview - well she seems to have a few 'original' ideas about the problem, unfortunately she seems to be talking about something she just has no clue about. Our news keeps reminding us that if you get her as VP you are just one missed heartbeat away from having a demented jellyfish for a presedent.
PALIN: Ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up the economy– Oh, it’s got to be about job creation too. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions.

You seem to forget that our political structure is in place because of English oppression. The system we have was originally designed to allow commoners the opportunity to participate in our government. I like Gov. Palin precisely for that reason. Don't underestimate the ability of a regular person to make good decisions for her country, just because her views may not mesh with yours - you have to look past all that to see the real power of the ideals our political structure is based upon. If she were a Liberal, she'd be the media's darling.

So, if I just posted the word "Yawn", what category would that put me in? Help me out here. Seriously.

See, that's what I'm talking about right there. The woman has a family to be proud of, is married to the same man for 20 years, has a self-made net worth of over a million dollars, her and her husband run their own business, she became mayor, Govenor and possibly now V.P. of the greatest country on earth... and people will sit there and call her stupid because you don't like that she shoots guns and has religion in her life. Again, if she were a Liberal, she'd be the media's darling.
It's really too bad that people aren't more willing to be critical of themselves half as vigorously as they are of others.

Actually, now that you mention it, I AM curious what this means: "As-Salāmu `Alaykum (السلام عليكم)" and why it's part of your sig. I think I asked you about it once, but can't remember if I did or if I just meant to.... The first thing to go you know....

Re: I am SO sick of it

Yesterday it was 38 degrees and raining - I rode my GS (relaxation) into work (stress). While at work my staff's conversation is dominated by talk of presidential candidates (stress). Not one of them has a clue as to how basic economics works (more stress). I took off for an hour and a half and rode up into the foothills a little (way relaxing), then went back to work (stress), listened to some more pointless discussion about politics (no stress, just frustration). Took the long way home (way relaxing), played with my dog (relaxing), had dinner with my wife (relaxing and enjoyable).

We all share a passion for motorcycles. Riding a motorcycle or discussion of rides or motorcycles we love helps many of us go to a better place.

It seems to me that discussion of politics on a motorcycle forum does about as much good for us as the politicians do. It will not change any one's mind and usually gets either the poster, the reader or both wound up.

You guys can go ahead and keep up the good fight, I'm going to go ride.

See, Kevin, being shoved full of buzzwords doesn't make you smart. As for her family, do you really want to bring up that whole unwed-mother-failure again? Or is that one of the "proud" things you are referring to? I see that as nothing more than a simple failure of the policies that she's so adamant about. If she can't figure out that ignorance and coercion don't work as birth control in her own family, then how can she understand something as complicated as the US /world economy, or foreign relations, or . . .

And can't you see that the position she's in now makes her so far from a "regular person" that any reference to that is laughable? Apparently, Obama is "inexperienced" while Palin is "a breath of fresh air" and, dare I say it, "change" for DC? You can spin all this any way you want, and believe me, they all do.

The simple fact is that Palin is proving to be a poor choice, and McCain is cracking under the pressure and we're still weeks away from the election! How are these folks gonna survive if they manage to get elected?

It an, Arabic greeting that loosely translates to "Peace be upon you", so wikepedia says. Those crazy Arabs.

Once again Ken, you're wrong on a number of levels. Least of which is being an "expert" on raising children, while not actually having any. The fact of the matter is you are part of the whole hypocrisy of the Left, in that you proclaim to be "Liberal" and supportive of "The One" - "The Great Uniter", if you will - yet you couldn't be more divisive. If you aren't able to understand that someone doesn't have to agree with your positions, but can still be a very wonderful person (and you can't - I know from experience), all you're able to do is "hate" her for things of which you truly aren't able to understand. She IS a wonderful woman in many ways, least of all her looks, which are pretty agreeable to most heterosexual males (and quite a few homosexual females - I'll pause to dwell on that thought for a moment.... ) and has real life experience - NOT affirmative action related "success" a la Michelle Obama, who still manages to hate her country, and not Chicago politics a la Barack - who manages to hide his distaste for his country much better than his wife. You don't have to agree with her to give her her due, she is still an American (I'd actually say more of a true American than either Barack or Michelle) and is still one of our fellow citizens and a decent human being. Again, I know I'm talking well above your head at this point, but for clarity's sake wanted to point this out to you.

There is obsolutely NOTHING original here! Same old socialization of vast ADDITIONAL parts of our economy, clap trap. Cradle to grave socialism.

Yes, it is very risky to choose a female as a running mate. You risk immediate "cat-fights" with the same voters that you're trying to court.

I give up. There are too many here that just have to say SOMETHING. I think next election cycle we will shut the board down 6 months before the election.
