Serious Internet security

If you read the referenced article with only 10 brain cells turned on everyone should be able to see the very problematic implications this brings. This exploit was known for a while now, but so far nobody had actually shown how to do it on the internet. Now a few folks have gone and created proof of concept sites, which will with 100% certainty lead to an influx of really malicious web sites.

Since there is currently no known fix for the problem it's up to you to protect yourself, and heed the conclusion an the end of the page: Unless you are running firefox browser with NoScript(which will break a number of sites until you have NoScript trained) you are a perfect victim for XSS attacks, like taking control of your microphone, your webcam, or going through ALL of your files on your PC.

In your own interest, read and UNDERSTAND the referenced article. This is really no joke.

Re: Serious Internet security

Andy, Sometimes I wonder if this is the plan from the beginning. Use TVs& Computers to keep a monitor on all that we do. Big Brother at it's best. Now anyone can do it!

Yes I have a conspiracy complex!

New Product idea!!!! Webcam condoms!!! You heard it here first!!!!!!!!!!!

I never understood the webcam idea in the first place. Differnt strokes for differnt fokes, I guess... Although, a lot of new laptop come with them standard. Perhaps disabaling the camara when not in use is your best bet. Or ... the webcam condom, by Trogan.

I already use FireFox, but what's this "No Script" feature? How do I turn it on?

Re: Serious Internet security

I don't believe the webcams will really be a target, even though possible. What I DO see as valid targets are microphones, and there are plenty of mics plugged into PC's these days, and/or ALL your files. once a perp has control over your PC they can do pretty much EVERYTHING with your PC and your files, passwords, ...

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
