It's that time of year again!

Three years ago, this month, we launched this community on our new and fresh interface, with scores of new features. Since that time this community has more than quadrupled in size. We have grown to more than 17,000 members, have more than a half million posts and are serving more simultaneous users than ever before.

Because of this anniversary, October has become the month when we try to encourage support from our community members. We operate this community to support the many BMW luxury touring riders that have come to count on this as the source for information, friendship and fun.

If you find that this community provides a value to you, please take a moment and support this community through our subscription system. For as little as a dollar a month you can help keep the lights on here. If you choose to support this community at higher levels you can get some additional email, web space and custom user title privileges. The complete description of the support levels and added features are on our subscription page.

This site is owned and operated by riders, dedicated to maintaining and continuing our long history as one of the best communities on the Internet. Surpassing 17,000 members and now supporting many different models in BMWs lineup, this has become a busy place indeed. The owners of this community derive no income from this project and we contribute a significant amount of time and effort to maintain and improve it.

We have enjoyed better than 99% up time this year and as we promised, we added a new primary server. This server has dramatically improved the speed at which we can build and serve up web pages. We have added a fully mirrored email server - a major step toward 100% up time for our email accounts, even if our primary server failed. We wish we had the resources of a Fortune 500 company, but we do the best we can on a very tight budget.

All of our equipment is located at a facility providing a secure location, with a stable power supply connected to a fully redundant and very fast Internet connection. The equipment replacement, software upgrades and this hosting constitute a significant expense.

We have a real aversion to commercializing this community to generate income through intrusive advertising. We are committed to avoiding that as a source of revenue. While many communities have buried their users in Google ads, flashing banners and even inline advertisements, we still remain free from this commercial intrusion. The only advertisements on this site are from the supporting vendors and dealers. Your support as well as the support from our dealers and vendors is what keeps this community alive.

Please give our supporting vendors a chance to earn your business.

Re: It's that time of year again!

We really appreciate those of you who stepped up to support this community. I have taken the 'begging banner' down now that we have reached the end of October.

While use October as our annual fund raising month, keeping this community going is a year round effort. If you appreciate the fact that we have refrained from placing Google ads on top, along the sides and even within the threads like many communities have, please take a moment and give us a little help. Just a buck a month is enough to make a big difference.
