Re: F-16 Dead Stick Landing

I wonder at what point they make the decision to land or to eject?

Great training -- makes me proud.

I noticed he was breathing a little more than usual. I think I'd be pissing.

not only that, when he went dead stick, did you notice his speed control around 210-215kts? He held it there for a good long time while getting his shite together....most excellent skills!

Re: F-16 Dead Stick Landing

The least he could have done was taxi to the ramp... Jeeesh, what a rookie!

That must have felt like flying a brick with wings.

Grif, didn't you see the message in the center of the display? "WARN"... yeah, it should have said "WARM", but you know how it is when you have your documents "converted" overseas.

They eject when the hydrazine for the EPU (Emergency Power Unit) runs out...10 minutes.
The F-16 uses a digital fly-by-wire system, no cables to the flight controls, all electronically controlled hydraulic actuators. When the stand-by generator fails the EPU fires and gives them 10 minutes of electrical and hydraulic power.
