Looking for something on Craigslist?

I just found a cool way to search every Craigslist across the country.

Open a Google search window and type:

site:craigslist.org "item you're looking for". I tried

site:craigslist.org "Kawasaki Concours" and got back listings from all over the country for the Concours.

I know criagslist is mostly local, but sometimes you can find people willing to ship. Ya never know!

Hey, Doug - thanks for that. I never could git used to Craigslist for the reason that it wuz so regional. When I sold the '55 T-Bird, I never got a hit off Craigslist, cuz MySA had it also and folks from here read that more than Craigslist, I guess. BTW - ending up selling it from MySA.

And I quit shopping Craigslist for the same reason - too localized for me. May git back at it and use your find - thanks. I need to replace the T-Bird with sumpthin'!!

Thanks for passing this along. Works great! I have always been frustrated with the limited search capabilities of Craigs List.

Re: Looking for something on Craigslist?

I wonder if there is a way to narrow the search down to certain regions, and by the date of the ad?
Thanks for the instructions on this though, this is really handy

Ever try this one: http://www.crazedlist.org/

Exclamation Re: Looking for something on Craigslist?

I have been using a different method for some time now. Try www.craigshelper.com

It allows you to select regions, states, cities, etc. and do a search through all selected.

The issue I have run into doing this is that many Craigslist sellers just do not want to deal other than locally! Seems strange, but I had one seller send me a rather nasty answer to an email asking questions about his item for sale, saying that I should not have bothered him because he is NOT going to ship anything.

Another said that I would have to arrange pickup if I wanted it shipped, and it was a small, few ounce item! Could easily be dropped in a mailbox.

Totally different mentality of the sellers overall relative to eBay!

I don't want to achieve immortality through my work...I want to achieve it through not dying.

Re: Looking for something on Craigslist?

David,
I did not know about that helper site. Thank you for posting that - it's exactly what I wanted to use!

Thanks!
