Boycott

I don't know how many beer drinkers we have lurking here, but I am one. My main beer of choice, over the many years, has been Bud. No longer. I can't believe that Bud is no longer an American company. I'm not sure why it bothers me so much, but it does. I'm so depressed, I think I'll go and grab an ice cold......Pabst ???

Re: Boycott

I don't drink but I have woke up in a Holiday Inn several times.

Have you considered home brewing? I have a few pro-am beer drinking friends and they've discussed chipping in and going that route because of this sell out.

Seems like foreign ownership is becoming the standard of the day now.

I don't drink Bud so it doesn't affect me.
I do drink Stella Artois though...

Don't like Bud, and can't drink Stella either, Just one glass is enough to give me a hangover soooo bad within 30 minutes of drinking it.

I'll stick to the black nectar, not problems with hangovers until the following day.

Quite frankly it can only come out better. maybe the new owners will make it taste better. Because ANY change will be a change to the better.

Re: Boycott

Well, you won't be missing much then. Look on the bright side, this gives you a chance to go out and try some real beers, made from barley and hops instead of rice, and with an actual flavor.

Re: Boycott

You guys are missing the point. Geez. Ed McMahon is, probably, rolling over in his grave.....oh, wait...he's not dead. But, the point is, Bud was a, quintessentially, American product. One more thing that has become foreign owned. What next ? I guess pretty soon we'll have to import apple pies from Argentina. Ye, there are much better beers out there. No disputing that. But, Bud was like an old friend. Always there to cheer me up when I was down. Take the stress out of my day. I can't stand the fact that he's now going to speak with a foreign accent. Maybe, I'll switch to Coors.....oh, wait....aren't they owned by Molson ?

I think it is definitely only a matter of time where we have no american products. Now I am off to ride my BMW or drive my Mercedes, Infinity and or Toyota!

I think I am the problem

That happens when the products are crap. It happened with the auto industry, the electronics industry, and now beer (if you can even call it that). Maybe the mortgage industry is next!

Re: Boycott

Frankly given the weakness of the dollar, I'm surprised that more companies haven't been snatched up by foreign ownership. We can't continue to run budget and trade deficits like we have been and not expect the dollar to decline in value.

Re: Boycott

I am amazed that we (Americans) don't see the world picture. Many Americans consider Ford, Chevy, and many other company's to be American, When in fact most large companies are world companies. It is only the beginning, of the changes, when we took the dollar off the gold value and placed it on the world standard.

It is like sitting in on a poker game, and watching the money go around the table! If you can afford to stay in the money will return.

I've been watching myself but haven't heard anything from him. I suspect he's in orbit someplace and yet to come down.

People in this town are really upset. It's going to be strange walking around the brewery and thinking this placed is now owned by someone else.
