Coni's Birthday

Happened to look at the birthday list today and saw an old familiar handle - black1200lt. It felt a little strange to see it there.

Re: Coni's Birthday

Could someone come up with a tasteful patch that we might buy in honor of her. I never met her, but considering all the good things said about her by so many - she must have been something.

I rode for several years with a patch for a motorcycle patrol officer killed locally.

I would be proud to buy one if someone will do it.

Seems to me a simple round patch in a light colour, with a Black LT in the middle, would sort of have two meanings.

Never met the lady, heard lots of nice things about her, sound to me like a wonderful person to have known.

Re: Coni's Birthday

Yeah, we sure do miss our Miss Manners around here. She brought a level of class everywhere she went, even this old website.

My favorite story was of Coni telling me about watching a Lunar eclipse from the saddle. She just rode away from the city and into the open country to the east for a clearer view. That's an image that I still carry with me on those long, dark, lonely roads.

So if I was designing a patch, it would be a black LT with a full moon rising above it.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

When I saw her name on the birthday list I got a 'lil tear in my eye. Then a great big smile came across my face as I thought about all the great stories I heard about her, I know she is watching over all of us, She also rides with us every time we swing a leg over the saddle.

Re: Coni's Birthday

I have met a lot of great people in this group, and like to call many of them friends. Coni was at the top of the list, and I am still very sad that she was taken from us. If there was a "class" leader, she was it. Some of my most memorable LD riding was when she was along.

I don't want to achieve immortality through my work...I want to achieve it through not dying.

Re: Coni's Birthday

Actually Ken, I liked her avatar. If it were me, I'd be trying to find this and base a patch on it. Of course, we would need to contact Judith Martin and ask for permission first. JM2CW
